A. PRIMARY FUNCTION
Responsible for providing technical support to one or more of the four Henderson unit operations and for leading continuous improvement activities through: identification of projects and process improvements, training, team support, and development of process scopes. Position
scope includes generation of SOP (standard operating procedures), and technical support of the environmental, quality, production, and safety initiatives at the plant. Support the conversion of the process control from single loop controls to a greater degree of automation using
B. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES AND SPECIFIC DUTIES (Categorize by "Essential" and "Other"; list in order of importance; identify percent of time)
ESSENTIAL: Identify, design, test, and implement process improvements to meet plant production, quality, safety, cost improvement, and environmental goals. Provide technical support to the processes and environmental. Prepare process scope for significant process changes and participate on the Capital project installation and implementation teams. Prepare forms, document, prints and reports for MPC (manufacturing process change) and MOC (management of change) activities. Revise and maintain P&IDs. Develop, revise, and author SOPs. Perform engineering calculations for material & energy balances as required. Maintain and revise process safety information. Participate in HAZOP/PHAs as needed. Keep current on new technologies in the processing of titanium.
OTHER: Interface with vendors, select and recommend equipment. Participation on and assist LMP (labor management participation) teams as needed. Assist in development of operational department training materials as needed. Assist in development of recipes in SAP for sponge production and assist in troubleshooting product costs via SAP.
C. KNOWLEDGE, SKILL and ABILITY REQUIREMENTS
1. Describe the minimum general knowledge and skills necessary to fulfill the responsibilities and duties of this position under normal circumstances.
Position requires two to five years of chemical or metallurgical processing industries (CPI) experience or the equivalent with a proven track record in improvement activities and process technical support. Strong communication skills along with knowledge of personal computers &
software (word processing, spreadsheet, project management) and process control is required. Operational experience is also desired.
2. What specialized knowledge, education and training are required?
A minimum of a BS degree in science or engineering is required. Chemical or Metallurgical engineering is preferred.
Minimum: 2 years in CPI

Non-essential: Drafting software (i.e. AutoCAD)
