Responsibilities:In conjunction with the Product Managers is responsible for the development and implementation of new products or improvements to existing products.Facilitates the justification of new products by presenting Power Point presentations to senior management with mock-ups, capital requirements and financials that include long range forecast and capital payback.Provides required leadership and teaming skills to coordinate between project engineers, R&D, vendors, tooling fabricators and plant personnel to ensure specifications, cost and optimum tool performance is achieved. Track cost and timing using project software and publish results to Product Manager and Engineering Manager.Conducts competitor product analysis as necessary.Creates component and assembly drawings. Uses design software to create detailed drawings of product parts and assemblies to established document standards.Ensures product support documents, sales illustrations, Bills of Material, and installation instructions are created as required. Develops supporting technical product information such as formulas, test data, and general information.Provides technical product support as necessary. Answer questions, provide drawings, and perform investigations for customers, sales, service, QA and others as needed.Advance level of design engineering pertaining to new product development that would include Evolution of Design modifications resulting from failure investigations of current product.Submit RFQs to qualified vendors with company s expectations with approved sourcing along with secondary operation, up and downstream support equipment, and machinery.Develops specifications and performance test requirements to facilitate procurement of parts and equipment for home exterior products. Analyzes technical data, designs, preliminary specifications, manufacturing limitations, supplier facilities and availability of parts and equipment.Consults with R&D personnel to establish performance criteria and specifications for manufacturing and testing. Investigates potential suppliers and recommends those most desirable.Performs other duties as assigned.
Bachelor s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Plastics Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Design or related discipline.
Minimum of ten years experience in a Product/Part/Design/Development position, preferably working with injection molding and/or extrusion.
Knowledge of design, building materials, and fabrication processes. Ability to present technical information to technical and non-technical personnel. Ability to conduct financial cost analysis of product production costs. Ability to manage engineering documentation systems across several departments. Proficiency with Auto CAD or SolidWorks software. Highly developed oral and written communication skills required. Ability to manage multiple priorities with limited supervision. Proficient with Microsoft Office tools including Projects, Visio, Excel, and Power Point.
Position requires moderate travel (30-40%).
