Based within Andersen Corporation’s Research, Development, and Innovation organization, this position is responsible for providing testing and analysis services to internal customers within the Andersen Enterprise including the development of new tests, improvement of existing tests, real world usage data gathering and analysis, and modeling of potential product reliability scenarios during the service life of the product. Products that might be encountered in this job range from human operated window and door products to sophisticated home automation devices that include electronics, mechanisms, and end user interaction.
Develop, improve, and document changes to proprietary Andersen test methods employed in both laboratory and field situations.
Create and implement test equipment as needed to demonstrate product reliability.
Create test plans and reports.
Review, evaluate, and improve test plans.
Employ Andersen Product Development Process (PDP) steps to ensure new products meet expected life requirements in the field.
Participate in field service visits as needed to help solve customer issues.
Set-up and deploy datalogging and control devices to enable measurement and collection of experimental data for the duration of a variety of tests both laboratory and field based. This portion of the job requires a skill set that includes, electrical, mechanical, and computer programming abilities.
Train technicians to perform individual test set-up, inspections, and measurements as needed.
Visit weathering sites as needed.
BS in anyof the following majors in order of preference:
MechanicalEng., Reliability Eng., Aerospace Eng., Electrical Eng., Civil Eng., ChemicalEng., or Physics
5+ years engineeringexperience
Strongworking knowledge of product development principles
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Strong mechanical aptitude
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint,Outlook)
Experience using databases – MS Access, mySQL, Oracle,SQL Server.
Ability to write and debug computer programs (ie. C,C++, Fortran, Visual Basic) that will be used to operate dataloggers andcontrol devices.
Experience with Arduino or other microcontrollers andassociated hardware strongly desired.
AutoCAD or other CAD software experience desired.
