Directly supervises and inspects all process and packaging operations within the assigned operational areas of the Havre de Grace Plant. Provide pro-active problem solving support in the areas of equipment, people, processes, safety, health and environment. Develop and administer training programs/processes for employees to enhance their skills with the goal of achieving maximum productivity, quality and safety while maintaining the Evonik operating principles, purpose and mission.
Ensures compliance with all Evonik safety, health and environmental policies and governmental regulations through Human Resources and the EHS Managers as well as ensures compliance activities are conducted (all inspections, measurements, monitoring, recording, recordkeeping, reporting, and training).
Supervises and inspects all production, packaging, storage/warehouse and loading/unloading operations, as assigned, at the Havre de Grace Facility.
Develops and administers job skills training for employees to maintain and enhance skill levels in order to achieve maximum productivity, quality, safety, health and environment while maintaining the Evonik operating principles, purpose and mission.
Ensures product quality, packaging integrity, loading and shipping requirements meet both internal and external customer specifications. Directs the proper placement and storage of finished product and minimizes off-specification production by coordinating disposition of Rework and adjusting production as necessary.
Monitors air and water discharges from plant to ensure compliance with local, federal and state regulations, and process operations for evidence of excessive use of fuel, water, and other natural resources. Updates all required log books associated with any upset condition and monitors daily logs to ensure compliance with regulations.
Ensures compliance with OSHA and company safety and housekeeping regulations. Conducts appropriate safety training with the work teams to minimize and/or eliminate the potential for near misses, accidents and injuries.
Secures maintenance for continued operation and recommends new equipment or modifications to existing equipment as necessary. Writes and/or assists with capital projects as assigned.
Maintain a thorough knowledge base of all existing and new plant processes, products, procedures and equipment in order to coordinate effective training and trouble-shooting skills
Update SAP and production reports on a daily basis. Attend required meetings.
Utilizes information systems, including statistical process control, statistical analysis and Design of Experiments to gather and analyze data, and take action when necessary. Where applicable, ensures the integrity of the Oracle business system and barcode inventory system.
- Minimum High School diploma (or equivalent) with 5 years experience in a chemical plant environment.
- A working knowledge of process control equipment, Excel, Word and SAP.
- Knowledge of statistical process control and its application in a manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated ability to lead people and obtain results in a team environment.
