ABOUT EDUCARE OF OMAHA, INC.
A group of five early learning schools located in Omaha, Nebraska, serving over 600 children from birth to five years old, in full day, year-round schedules. Our schools serve financially disadvantaged children, preparing them for success in kindergarten and beyond while also helping parents develop the skills needed to champion their child’s education.
This approach, based on research and evidenced based practices, goes beyond the classroom and providing children with a specialized, high-quality learning environment that will develop them academically and socially. The Program Director reports to the Executive Director and supports the successful program development and sustainability of our schools by providing coordination of implementation, consultation, training, and peer learning opportunities on the organization’s model. The Program Director’s role is to work with site leadership to support and enhance the school’s ability and capacity to reach full implementation of and fidelity to the Educare of Omaha, Inc. Schools.
- Develop and maintain professional, collegial relationships with the school leadership, responding to their strengths, needs, challenges and concerns, and utilize a solution-focused approach in supporting the work of the Site leadership
- Provide reflective supervision to the five (5) School Directors
- Encourage/support the development of a Community of Practice among the five (5) School Directors.
- Demonstrate a commitment to ensuring the provision of support with an organization-wide focus on social-emotional development and executive functioning that promotes school readiness and educational achievement
- Provide targeted expertise based on the experienced needs of the schools/leadership staff
- Work with school leadership to cultivate an understanding and integration of the Program Model in order to reach full implementation
- Work with key executive leadership personnel to develop an interdisciplinary approach to support the needs of Educare Omaha and the Omaha Early Learning Centers model
- Ensures compliance with Head Start Program Performance Standards and the provisions of the Early Head Start Child Care Partnership Agreement. Also ensure compliance with all other funding sources, including but not limited to, Sixpence, Child Development Block Grant, and private grants
- Assess the impact of training/professional development and other learning events with site leadership and provide assistance to support the transfer of knowledge and application of the learning; seek feedback in order to evaluate behavior and/or practice change and to inform training and implementation assistance
- Facilitate access to resources, training, content experts/thought leaders and strategic program partners in the field of early childhood in support of Educare Omaha and the Omaha Early Learning Centers model
- Exhibit an understanding of and compliance with childcare licensing
- Experience working with children and their families and dual generation programming
- Provide supervisory support and leadership development through the utilization of the Reflective Supervision model
- Deliver school-based foundational and core training, presentations, and workshops on Educare Omaha and Omaha Early Learning Centers core features
- Possess an understanding of the interest between early childhood practice influencing the use of research to improve practice and policy to close the achievement gap and create access to more high-quality early childhood environments
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Extensive knowledge of current trends and issues in center-based birth-five childcare, early childhood education and development
- Knowledge and direct experience working in Head Start/Early Head Start is a plus
- Extensive knowledge of current trends and issues in parent and family engagement and support services
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement new and ongoing programming, services and practices related to early childhood education birth to five services
- Ability to work independently as well as function effectively and collaboratively in a team environment
- Ability to work with culturally diverse staff and populations
- Advanced organizational skills and ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks
- Experience with research-based practices is preferred
- Excellent training facilitation and presentation skills
- Proficiency in Internet use and computer applications - a thorough understanding of Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Power Point), use of databases, and the ability to learn and master other computer technology /software programs as needed
- Excellent command of English language and grammar, both verbal and written
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Special Education, Social Work, Human Services, or related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in leadership and management positions in an early childhood education setting involving multi-site management, supervision, staff development and training, program development administration.
- Experience working in early childhood programs in a leadership role is preferred.
