This position is a seasoned Project Engineering professional working independently. Supports the development of project plans, schedules and budgets, tracks progress, resolves problems, develops solutions, and forecasts project revenue. Coordinates with other functional organizations. Identifies and addresses project problems, analyzes data gathered, and develops solutions and recommendations to solve problems, meet deadlines and optimize performance.
- Work with Product Families Engineering Leaders to plan and execute projects, ensuring that teams have appropriate product and technical specifications, direction, and resources to deliver on Kidde commitments on schedule and on budget.
- Coordinate the implementation and execution of the UPI (UTAS Product Introduction), Standard Work and UTAS design best practices for development within the Kidde organization.
- Ensure standardized schedule and metric tracking for projects is maintained.
- Track project budget and schedule via metrics for report up and review.
- Exceptional oral and communication skills up and down the organization, strong organization skills and ability to manage multiple simultaneous efforts.
- Work closely with the engineering and business development Product Family Leaders to understand functional and non-functional requirements, with the goal of avoiding unnecessary design iterations.
- Demonstrate leadership abilities to our customers with the development of software upgrades, enhancements and fixes that are coordinated based on release schedules.
- Create early warning system for projects that are not fulfilling commitments.
- Provide leadership and guidance to motivate and lead team members to their optimum performance levels.
- Preparation of data for internal project reviews.
- Review weekly/monthly project status with Project Engineering Manager and Engineering Director.
- Leverage Chiefs and Technical Fellows as needed.
- Support for proposals.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering
- Candidates for this role should possess a Bachelor’s degree and five years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced degree and three years of prior relevant experience
- PMP Certification preferred
