The RN Maintains current BLS and SECURE Training certificaiton.
The RN has knowledge of the following diseas processes: Diabetes, COPD, Pneumonia, Thrombophlebitis, Adominal Diseases, Pancreatitis, Bowel Obstruction, GI Bleed, Gastroenteritis, Colitis, Hepatitis, Dehydration/Electrolytes imbalance and Respiratory Diseases.
The RN has a working knowledge of the following DSM-5 diagnostic classification: Neurodevelopmental Disorders, Psychotic Disorders, Mood Disorders, Anxiety Disorders, Personality Disorders, Substance Use Disorders.
The RN has a working knowledge of the Washington Involuntary Treatment Act and the processes related to detainment and commitment.
THE RN HAS KNOWLEDGE OF AND THE ABILITY TO:
Conduct therapies in accordance with patient diagnosis.
Fulfill the role of the RN in discharge planning.
Participate in the development of the interdisciplinary plan of care.
Complete individualized treatment plans for each patient.
Complete nursing assessments and progress notes per policy.
Serve as an active member of the interdisciplinary treatment team.
Plan, implement and coordinate nursing care activities for assigned patients.
Perform treatment interventions per physician orders such as medication administration and medical treatment orders.
Perform AIMS testing.
Perform CIWA and CINA assessments.
Assess patients for acute side effects to psychotropic medications.
Assess patients for fall risk and other risk factors.
Conduct Suicidal Risk Assessment on admission and as required thereafter per policy.
Provides psychiatric education to patient and family as needed.
Document continuous assessment, interventions and evaluations related to patient care.
Provide for patient safety, dignity and confidentiality.
Monitors milieu for safety and reports any deficiencies to supervisor.
Supervises the work of the mental health worker.
Safe patient transfers.
Knowledge of/proficiency of medical equipment: Blood pressure equipment and Oximetry.
Knowledge of/proficiency in utilization of Diabetic Teach Protocol; Glucose Monitoring and Implementation of Diabetic Teaching.
Knowledge of/proficiency with the following policies/procedures: Pain Control Standards and Oral Care Protocol.
