20 Bed In-Patient Unit
Scope of Job:
The Department of Psychiatry at Stamford Health is seeking an experienced full-time Adult Psychiatrist to provide high quality, patient-centered care to patients of the Psychiatry Service. The position requires assisting the Department Chair, Clinical Operations Director of Behavioral Health and the Nurse Manager in the discharge of Departmental duties. The Unit Chief will monitor the clinical activity of house Psychiatrists to assure quality care is given, and will supervise the staff Psychiatrists and APPs in the department. Shared call includes 24-hour in-house week-end coverage once a month, as well as 1 or 2 holidays a year.
Participation in the medical education of residents, medical students and physician assistant students is a component of the role. Other duties include the education, supervision and clinical guidance to staff on the in-patient unit and supporting departmental quality and performance improvement effort.
- Graduation from an accredited medical school and training program in Psychiatry
- A Connecticut medical license, CSR and DEA
- The ability to obtain hospital privileges prior to start
Stamford Hospital is an independent, community teaching hospital with four free-standing residency programs, and it is a primary teaching affiliate of Columbia Universitys Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons. Located on the Connecticut shoreline in Fairfield County, Stamford has the feel of beautiful New England, but is only 45 minutes from New York City.
