The Psychologist will provide a coordinated and comprehensive system of psychological services aimed at maximizing students' emotional development and student success while promoting respect for self, others, property, and diversity within the Roger Williams University community.
Provide individual and group counseling with students experiencing personal/social/family and related concerns while adhering to legal and ethical standards. Limited after-hours crisis management as assigned by Director.
Consult with family members, faculty, staff, and administrators on matters related to the Counseling Center.
Train, supervise, and evaluate interns and post-doctorate fellows in order for them to meet their licensing requirements to be independent mental health providers.
Coordinate with one or more other campus departments on a regular basis.
Be involved in outreach programming as requested by administrators, faculty, staff, and student organizations.
Coordinate and assess Counseling Center efforts in a particular area (e.g., substance use, eating disorders, sports psychology, diversity, technology, trauma).
Extended or weekend hours infrequently required on occasion for outreach, campus events, or emergency situations.
Respect and maintain client confidentiality, Center operating procedures, university protocols and practices.
This is a 10-month position that will be starting on August 11, 2020
Must be licensed or license eligible in the state of Rhode Island within one year of start date.
Ph.D. or Psy.D. in counseling or clinical psychology from an APA approved training program.
Individual and group clinical skills with experience in crisis intervention and consultation.
Possess sensitivity to and appreciation of cultural differences.
Adherence to legal and ethical standards.
Experience in coordinating campus-wide mental health education programs.
One or more pre-doctoral internship(s) and/or post-doctoral fellowship in a college or university counseling center.
At the University's discretion, the education and experience prerequisites may be excepted where the candidate can demonstrate, to the satisfaction of the University, an equivalent combination of education and experience specifically preparing the candidate for success in the position.
