About the Job
The Psychologist-E observes, evaluates and records the behavior of patients during assessments, whether on admission, transfer or annual reassessment, or during their daily activities. Effectively communicates results in written and oral form, with treatment recommendations. Selects, administers, scores and interprets a variety of psychological tests. Performs individual and group therapy with hospital patients; participates as a group leader in the Psychosocial Rehabilitation Program. Confers with and works cooperatively as a member of an Interdisciplinary Treatment Team to develop appropriate patient treatment plans and evaluates progress towards treatment goals and objectives. Writes behavioral treatment plans, functional behavior assessments and consults with staff to address identified problem behaviors. Provides crisis intervention assistance. Provides testimony in court hearings regarding a variety of psychological matters. Provides assistance in training hospital staff and students as assigned. Supervises student interns. Attends training and workshops related to work and scope of practice. Develops Individual Plans of Service with patients honoring the principles and requirements of Person Centered Planning. Maintains records, staff activity reports and correspondence related to work. Provides coverage as assigned by the Social Services Director and Clinical Services Director. Serves on hospital committees as assigned. May perform related essential functions appropriate to the class and other non-essential functions as required. This position assures that age specific criteria is demonstrated and met with assigned patients. This position, on a regular basis, provides direct health care services to persons in the care and custody of the state. This is a test-designated position and as such is subject to random and post-accident drug and alcohol testing.
