The hydraulic engineer ensures that the hydraulic components of the product are per internal standards and the customer specifications. Quality standards shall be maintained at an optimum level as well as correct materials to ensure fluid properties are compatible and proper machining can be performed in the construction of the product. The hydraulic engineer prepares and directs the preparation of hydraulic design documents such as impeller and volute layouts, performance maps and design calculations, mechanical stage layouts, and procurement drawings. Individuals in this role will develop and maintain proficiency and competency in hydraulic design and analysis, including standard analytical computations, 2D mechanical drafting, 3D modeling, and computational fluid dynamics.
