The applicant must possess a Radiologic Technologist license. The technologist will work with the Metabolic Bone Diseases Program and will be responsible for all clinical research protocols involving image acquisition using Dual Energy X-ray Absorptiometry (DEXA) and other highly specialized skeletal imaging, such as high resolution quantitative CT (HR-pQCT or Xtreme CT) and bone ultrasound.
Scanning responsibilities include but are not limited to radiologic and technical work. Prepare for and perform DEXA and HRpQCT scans. Analyze scans and prepare printouts for review. Maintain equipment and quality control. Data collection and management responsibilities include but are not limited to collection and maintenance of patient information via databases / repositories.
The technologist will work closely with the supervising engineer, research coordinators and physician investigators in the Bone Unit as well as collaborating medical staff in other departments and institutions to further the research goals of the lab. Assist in the design and contribute expertise to the technical components of imaging required for divisional, departmental and institutional research efforts. Coordinate data collaboration with the Biomedical Engineering Laboratory at the Morningside Campus and central analytic sites when cooperating on multisite clinical studies. Perform finite element analysis on HRpQCT scans. Perform additional duties as needed.
Minimum Qualifications for Grade:

Requires a Bachelor's degree or equivalent in education and experience, plus four (4) years of related experience.
New York State Radiologic Technologist license is required.

Experience in bone density measurement a plus.
