Join the Infection Control team and provide service to St. Luke's Medical Center; Tempe St. Luke's Hospital; and St. Luke's Behavioral Health Center as an Infection Prevention and Control Practitioner.
Provides direction and education related to the overall management of the infection control program.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Completes routine surveillance and monitoring of patients and employees for epidemiologically significant infections (under the auspices of the Quality Council and in accordance with CDC and JACHO guidelines) to ensure the consistent identification and control of nosoconial infection.
Acts as a resource and consultant to all departments in each facility to ensure the maintenance of appropriate infection control standards and regulations.
Assists all departments in planning infection control programs in their areas, communicating clearly and effectively with leadership and staff.
Serves as a consultant to all department directors in developing or revising policies and procedures for the prevention and control of infection in their areas.
Participates in the evaluation of products designed to decrease the incidence of infection.
Maintains a working relationship with Employee Health Service in management and treatment of personnel exposed to or ill from specific communicable diseases.
Performs administrative / committee functions to facilitate, evaluate and ensure the achievement of infection control annual goals and objectives.
Works with Quality Council in establishing, implementing, evaluating and revising infection control policies and procedures for the facilities.
Prepares all infection control data for Quality Council meetings; surveillance reports, agenda and reports of special investigations.
Supports and participates in interdisciplinary and collaborative quality improvement programs by measuring and assessing performance and by providing educational and in-service support.
Demonstrates knowledge and practice of current safety goals and policies.

- BSN degree required; (Master’s in Nursing, Healthcare Management, or Public Health preferred).
-CIC certification ormust obtain byone year after hire date
-3 – 5 years of RN clinical experience in an acute care hospital setting preferred. RN Infection Control experience in an acute care hospital required (at least 1 year)
-AZ RN license (or able to obtain) in good standing
-Ability to read, write, and verbally communicate effectively in English
- Computer skills using Microsoft Office Suite and various healthcare applications and programs
