The Connecticut Childbirth and Women's Center is Connecticut's only free-standing birth center, located across the street from Danbury Hospital. Applicants must be willing to be on call for births for 12-hour shifts, including night shifts, weekends and offer availability for holidays too. Because our nurses work on an "on-call" basis, applicants must live within 45 minutes of Danbury CT, have a reliable vehicle, and reliable childcare as appropriate.
Women's Health, Pediatric, and relevant prior experience strongly preferred. Strong assessment skills and ability to time manage effectively required. Knowledge of breastfeeding education strongly preferred. Must be able to start IV's and be BLS certified. NRP certification preferred. We may train for Neonatal Resuscitation (NRP).
At the Connecticut Childbirth & Women's Center, our primary goal is to assist families in experiencing the wonder and joy of childbirth in a safe, comfortable and sensitive environment. Excellent health care is best fostered in an atmosphere of relationship and trust, and where women are empowered to work collaboratively with their caregivers. Most women who birth with us remain under our care for their lifelong gynecology and family planning needs.
