Grand Prairie Services is a community based behavioral healthcare provider with over 68 years of experience providing mental health services for the children, adolescents, adults and seniors living in Bloom, Bremen, Rich and Thornton townships.
We are currently seeking candidates for the Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse positions for our Emergency Behavioral Health Center . The right candidate will Completes physical assessment on each client, arranges for follow-up for any medical problems identified and administers and monitors client medication as prescribed by a physician.
SUMMARY:
Completes physical assessment on each client, arranges for follow-up for any medical problems identified and administers and monitors client medication as prescribed by a physician by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Completes a physical assessment for each client within 48 hours or ensures the assessment has been completed within 48 hours.
Administer and monitor client’s medications as prescribed by the physician.
Document all clinical data as outlined in the organization’s policies and procedures. Keep documentation current.
Participate in multidisciplinary staffings.
Provide medication education training to clients and staff.
Arrange for follow-up for any medical problems identified.
Work with pharmacy in obtaining client medication and keep sample medication organized and stocked.
Guarantee that all medication received and dispensed is accurately logged and any medication errors are reported immediately.
Guarantee that all medication is properly stored and that expired sample medications are disposed of properly.
Ensure that all sharp and hazardous materials are disposed of in accordance with established procedures.
Provides supervision to the Licensed Practical Nurse.
Attend workshops and seminars in the areas of practice required by the organization, funders and other governing bodies.
Responsible for typing progress notes, assessments and treatment plans.

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) / Registered Nurse (R.N.) from four year college or university and two to four years related experience. Must have proficient typing and computer skills.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
