You Will Be Responsible For:
Provides facilitation, coordination and support for nursing computerization within Surgical Services, Endoscopy, Pre-Procedure, PACU, and Central Sterile.
Act as a clinical resource for perioperative services personnel within the specialty using professional guidelines and evidence-based standards.
Perform surgical case management with other members of the surgical team, ensuring that all cases have necessary equipment, personnel, and supplies prior to the case starting.
Works closely with Materials Management and SPD Supervisor position to assist with those duties.
Builds and Maintains Surgeon Preference cards insuring product updates for both Open and Hold bins
Serves as the consultant/liaison for iConnect/Surginet computer projects that involve Surgical Services and information management.
Provides necessary liaison and interface activities for implementation and ongoing system operations.
Works with Clinical Auditors to audit/correct departmental charges for Surgery, Anesthesia, PACU, Endoscopy, Outpatient Surgical Services and Central Sterile as necessary.
Does follow-up on all iConnect/SurgiNet charge problems to resolve any charge problem issues.
Communicates with other staff, nurses, vendors, physicians and administrative personnel regarding any needed equipment/items and also assist with any problems/issues.
Assists with Product Approval process and Value Analysis for Surgical Services related products
Schedules surgical cases as needed and provides assistance to surgical case scheduler.
Provides computer support to Surgery, Anesthesia, PACU, Endoscopy, Outpatient Surgical Services and Central Sterile departments as needed.
Develops reports within Surgical Services that support process improvement, budgetary tracking, procedural recommendations and other aspects that assist with the smooth, safe running of the department.
Ensures appropriate training and use of electronic records in compliance with established policies, procedures and expectations assuring that the staff are competent; works with management to improve electronic documentation
Assists with and participates in development of policies, procedures and standards for the Surgical Services departments relating to computer hardware and software.
Assesses processes relating to charges, cost containment, productivity, cost analysis and reimbursement; works closely with staff, physicians, management and other departments as appropriate.
Maintains a working knowledge and understanding of surgery scheduling in order to be familiar with the caseload, provides coverage as needed by being able to function independently.
Identifies needs within Surgical Services relating to file building, file revisions and additions moving to appropriate software as needed to maintain a smooth flow of information.
Collaborates with practitioners, administrators, educators, researchers and vendors to promote the transformation of data into information needed to provide quality patient care for Surgical Services.
Coordinates post-implementation evaluation of process, systems and device strategies as well as examine existing processes and develop fresh solutions to improve efficiency for Surgical Services.
Participates in meetings and training sessions which are offered by health information systems vendors for clinical equipment and applications as appropriate for Surgical Services.
Actively participates in hospital and patient care committees and task forces as needed to perform the requirements of the position and meet the needs of Surgical Services.
Interacts with staff, physicians, other departments and outside companies in a professional and positive manner.
Other duties as business needs arise.
Maintains clinical skills and performs as a clinical staff person in the surgical services department when needed. (i.e. Circulator, Surgical Tech or First Assistant)

What You Will Need:
Knowledge of AORN standards and Perioperative nursing care.
OR (3-5 years) experience required. With strong clinical experience of OR processes required.
Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
Ability to use machines, tools, equipment, and works as necessary to perform job duties in the OR.
Knowledge of how to use Excel, Word, and EMR systems (preferred)
Must hold a current certificate in BLS (American Heart Association)
Current RN License
The Surginet Database Coordinator is a professional who provides assistance to the Surgical Services Departments in the management of computer systems within Surgical Services and is responsible for providing guidance, clinical expertise, and mentoring to members of the health care team within the specialty while optimizing available resources to achieve optimal patient outcomes. To facilitate, coordinate, and support nursing computerized documentation within Surgical Services, Endoscopy, PAT, PACU and Central Sterile. The Database Coordinator will be the first responder for all computer hardware and software issues, coordinating activities with the I.S. department as appropriate. He/she will assume responsibility for special projects that include but are not limited to computer upgrades, staff education relating to computers, assuring inventory preparation is timely for a smooth flow, maintenance of files, access for physicians and staff within Surgical Services, preference lists and capital budgets. The individual will also support other roles as needed to promote a smooth functioning Surgical Services Department.
