The School of Sustainable Engineering and the Built Environment (SSEBE) seeks an experienced candidate for a Research Advancement Administrator to join the team. This position is primarily dedicated to post-award management but will include pre-award functions as it relates to awarded projects that require proposal entry. This position has the responsibility of providing post-award financial, accounting, and administrative support for both sponsored and local accounts to faculty.

- Manages awarded projects in accordance with University and sponsor regulations. Prepares standard and nonstandard accounting reports for ASU research investigators
- Works in conjunction with ORSPA and ASU research investigator to ensure timely and accurate post-award accounting of grants and contracts; reviews reconciliation of accounts for compliance of charges in accordance with sponsoring agency/contract conditions and requirements
- Works as an administrative resource to ASU research investigators, provides assistance, guidance and counsel during management, to verify and ensure ongoing compliance with all applicable regulatory and financial compliance requirements
- Works as an administrative resource to ASU research investigators and ORSPA staff to resolve problems and correct errors in fund management to ensure timely collection of revenue through accurate presentation of invoices
- Maintains all applicable project records and files; decides proper handling of financial transactions; approves transactions within designated limits
- Assists ASU research investigators with renewals and periodic reports for grant agencies
- Provides guidance to research investigators and departmental business staff on Sponsor policies and regulations regarding the administration of award funds, Monitor compliance issues and assist in resolution, Account close out
- Analyzes, reconciles, and reports financial information on existing sponsored and local accounts; forecasts account deficits and residual balances, and gathers and analyzes information from the Dashboard, My Reports and other sources for customized detail and summary reports
- Responds to inquiries in a timely manner using effective interpersonal communication, critical thinking and problem-solving skills and methods as appropriate to address questions and/or concerns
- Manages and reviews for accuracy, records regarding effort reporting, cost sharing, and faculty commitments
- Works under deadlines, manages multiple responsibilities and duties, with interruptions, and in unclear and/or changing situations
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Bachelor's degree in a related field. Three years of experience in a field appropriate to the area/unit of assignment OR Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skill and abilities have been achieved.
- Experience in preparing detailed documents, proposals, reports, and/or related materials
- Experience in producing financial reports and budget development
- Experience problem solving, critical thinking, and time management skills
- Demonstrated knowledge of a wide variety of sponsors with complex requirements including NSF, NIH, DOE, ONR, AFOSR, AFRL, and ARO
- Experience in using organizational skills
- Experience in providing a high level customer service
- Demonstrated knowledge of higher education, Board of Regents practices, RSP policies and procedures, and Sponsored Research
- Experience with the policies, procedures and requirements of all applicable regulations governing management of grants and contracts
- Experience in understanding user needs, requirements and requests to identify priorities; escalates urgent/conflicting requests
- Evidence of collegial interpersonal skills with an ability to communicate effectively in person, writing, and by phone
- Experience in establishing and maintaining effective professional working relationships
- Experience using Microsoft Office Suite, ADOBE, data base systems, and any Enterprise Research Administration System
- Activities are primarily performed in a regular, climate controlled office setting subject to extended period of sitting.
- Use office equipment including a desktop computer.

- Clearly communicate to perform essential duties.
- Work both independently or within a complex structured team.

The School of Sustainable Engineering and the Built Environment (SSEBE) is one of six schools within the Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering on the Tempe Campus. From models that simulate complex systems and incorporate emerging knowledge to lifecycle assessments to green buildings and energy systems that protect human health and earth system processes, SSEBE faculty and students are helping to create tomorrow’s world. - Analysis of complex urban systems that involves quantification of risk and uncertainty in engineering design and construction.

- Application of sustainable practices in all areas of urban infrastructure (water resources and treatment, geotechnical management, transportation materials and analysis of transportation systems, novel composite materials, construction “green” building techniques, building information modeling (BIM), and computation approaches to design).
