The agency operates 43 community-based programs and services in South-eastern Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware to provide assistance to needy children, the elderly, the homeless and those with chronic mental health issues together with ex-offenders returning to society.
Nationwide Volunteers of America offers more than 100 different kinds of services in approximately 300 communities touching the lives of more than 1.7 million people a year.
The employee in this classification shall report to the Site Manager (IDS). The employee is part of the treatment team. The responsibilities are therapeutic in function including but not limited to: primary provider of a therapeutic environment for the treatment of IDS consumers in a community residential setting with very close and structured supervision; conducts program operations in accordance with the principles of normalization, positive approaches and sound ethical social work practices.
The Employee in this position must have a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent with two years transferable, practical experience in the human service field. Additional skills required include working with the ID population, understanding human behavior, effective written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced client service-orientated environment demonstrating effective logical problem-solving skills. Exceptional interpersonal skills interacting appropriately with clientele as well as working effectively with co-workers as a team player. Basic computer skills. Valid driver's license and able to meet Volunteers of America standards. Must be able to pass criminal background clearance from funding source.
