Under the general supervision of the Manager of Respiratory Care provides intensive and general respiratory care services to neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients upon receiving written prescriptions from a physician. Also functions as a Clinical Resource Leader within the structure of the department’s clinical ladder.
Position Requirements: Minimum Education: Required: Associates Degree Preferred: Bachelors Degree Minimum Experience: Required: 1-2 years of previous job-related experience Preferred: 3-5 years of previous job-related experience Licensure/Certifications: Required: CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation),Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT),Current Respiratory Care License State of Illinois,Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) Preferred: ACLS (Advanced Cardio Life Support Certified) ,PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support),Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Recognition Position Responsibilities: Adult Accountabilities: Acts as a Team Leader when assigned to a Team. Adult Accountabilities: Evaluate the patient, plan the therapy and implement bronchial hygiene therapy when ordered to do so by the physician. Adult Accountabilities: Perform assessment and teaching of patients and their families in home respiratory care techniques requested by the physician. Neonatal/Pediatric Accountabilities: Perform Neonatal/Infant endotracheal intubation. Adult and Neonatal/Pediatric Accountabilities: Act as a clinical resource to other respiratory care practitioners, respiratory therapy students, physicians or nurses. Neonatal Accountabilities: Participate in the transport of infants via helicopter to LUMC. General Accountabilities: Assist with the evaluation of new respiratory care equipment and with the development of new procedures. General Accountabilities: Perform research investigating Neonatal/Pediatric respiratory care techniques.
