Provides disease specific management, a working knowledge of oncology principles, the ability to manage chemotherapy and the side effects, and is able to monitor and address symptoms.
Works with patients and families throughout the course of treatment and beyond to provide an understanding of their disease, their treatment plans, and address patient clinical and psycho-social issues as required.
Symptom management calls are made proactively to anticipate needs of patients undergoing treatment and to manage side effects of disease and/or treatment.
Care Manager documents assessment and interventions in real time in the electronic medical record. Will collaborate with the oncologist and clinic staff to assist in managing and coordinating patient care.
The RN Patient Care Manager will support the mission of Florida Cancer Specialists (FCS) and the Care Management department.
A valid Florida RN license required. ONCC/OCN certification preferred.
A graduate of an Accredited RN Nursing Program.
Five (5) years of experience in the healthcare field or clinic setting with knowledge of oncology required.
Procedure entry with experience in insurance and medical terminology preferred.
Strong telephonic, customer services skills needed.
Attention to detail, excellent math skills, excellent deduction skills, the ability to work independently, good communication skills, data entry, and knowledge of Excel, Word and Outlook.
Travel to Corporate Headquarters of occasional meetings.
