Under general supervision, provide professional nursing care of patient who requires intermediate care level, utilizing the nursing process and evidence-based practice and ensuring safety, quality, and patient-centered care. Provide nursing care to patients including the administration of medications and treatments ordered and assist with diagnostic procedures. Assess and monitor patient status, including response to medications and therapeutic and diagnostic procedures. Identify problems presented by patients and families and initiate appropriate intervention. Operate and monitor patient care equipment. Document patient care, including changes in patient status. Identify needs and educate patients and families about their disease process and the application of the therapeutic plan. Formulate individual care plans and evaluate nursing care. Provide guidance to team members by supervising nursing interventions and assigning related tasks. Collaborate with interprofessional departments to optimize the process and outcome of care.
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. BSN or MSN required. Current active California R.N. licensure. BLS required. ACLS preferred. 2 years or greater or Step-down or telemetry experience required. PCCN preferred.
Ability to perform historical, physical, and behavioral assessments of patients using appropriate framework. Demonstrated skill in developing individualized care plans, incorporating patient preferences and evidence-based practice. Skill in implementing appropriate nursing interventions on a consistent basis. Skill in clinical reasoning, setting priorities, organizing workload to effectively administer direct patient care. Skill in speaking English clearly. Skill in communication and collaboration with healthcare team. Writing skills to document accurately interventions and patient response. Ability to work effectively with stress and in crisis situations. Ability to comply with departmental standards on punctuality, attendance, dress code, and varied work schedules. Knowledge and practice in the proper use of safe body mechanics.
