Elbit Systems of America/M7 Aerospace, Services and Support Solutions, based in San Antonio delivers depot-level repair, manufacturing, field service support, logistics support, aircraft modifications, reliability upgrades, aircraft level contractor logistics support as well as maintenance and repair for commercial and sophisticated military electronic systems and components. Programs include: aftermarket support and sustainment provider of Elbit and non-Elbit spares, repairs, and logistics solutions encompassing weapons systems supporting all DOD and many foreign entities.
Troubleshoots, repairs and services aircraft and engine systems. Conducts diagnosis of malfunctions. Performs maintenance, disassembly, rework, repair, replacement, re-assembly or adjustment of various aircraft systems in accordance with technical specifications, engineering instructions, and FAA regulations. Maintains FAA required records, manuals and inspection forms. Requires an airframe and power license.
The Aircraft Mechanic is required to maintain all UC-35 aircraft/systems in accordance with and within the limitations of the FAA and the aircraft manufacturer. The Aircraft Mechanic reports directly to the Lead Mechanic on a day-to-day basis.
The Aircraft Mechanic is responsible for, but not limited to:
- Inspect and certify aircraft at specific intervals as required by ESA, Government, and the FAA. Ensure inventory spares and materials to include receiving, usage, reporting, shipping, transfer, scrap, and replenishment are handled using established company procedures.
- Ensure timely submission of required reports and documents to Program Management and the Government.
- Ensure that the site assigned company and Government owned/operated/possessed items are maintained.
- Ensure required entries are made in the aircraft logbooks, configuration records, site records and Management Information System (MIS).
- Ensure compliance with quality and safety procedures/operations at the site level.
- Ensure company rules, standards, regulations, and policies are adhered to, enforced, and initiate actions to correct infractions.
- Advise the Site Supervisor promptly of unresolved or developing problem areas.
- Perform Collateral Duties and Responsibilities, as assigned by the site Lead/Supervision. Work hours may be adjusted for operational requirements.
EDUCATION & Experience:
- FAA Airframe and Powerplant license.
- Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of three (3) years of Cessna Ultra/Encore (UC-35) aircraft maintenance hands-on experience, or
- Associate’s degree and a minimum of seven (7) years of Cessna Ultra/Encore (UC-35) aircraft maintenance hands-on experience, or
- A minimum of eleven (11) years of Cessna Ultra/Encore (UC-35) aircraft maintenance hands-on experience.
EXPERIENCE, SKILL, AND KNOWLEDGE:
- Must have the ability to communicate clearly and concisely in the English language.
- Must be able to work day shift, night shift, or weekend duty and travel as part of a maintenance recovery team as required.
- Must be able to work in the established work/living environment and work a schedule as assigned to support mission requirements.
- Knowledge of the use of hand and special tools, and testers.
- Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English required to use technical manuals.
- Must have an in-depth knowledge (aircraft/vehicle movement and safety/hazards) of flight line operations.
- Must have an in-depth knowledge of aircraft technical orders/job guides/publications-read, interpret, follow and comprehend schematic diagrams, drawings, charts and technical publications.
- Must have a working knowledge (input and extract data) of standard Maintenance Database as applies to maintenance activities.
- Must be willing and able to perform in-flight FCF checks.Qualifications:
- Must have a DOD SECRET Security Clearance, or can obtain.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a passport and visa for overseas travel.
- Must have and maintain a current civilian driver's license.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a government flight line driver's license.
- Must be able to climb ladders, stairs and portable stands and navigate these without assistance. Must be able to work at heights 70 feet above the ground. Must be able to work in extreme heat/cold.
- Must be able to work in the following environmental conditions: noise, vibration, proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, chemicals, odors, dust. Must be able to bend, reach, stoop, balance, push, pull, kneel, grasp, crouch, crawl, work in narrow aisles/passageways, and work in close spaces that restrict movement for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to stand for sustained periods of time. Must be able to work primarily with fingers such as picking, pinching, typing. Must have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication parts at distances close to the eyes.
- Must be able to lift/maneuver up to 50 pounds. Must be able and willing to enter and work in confined spaces, such as aircraft fuel tanks and beneath floor panels with clearances of 18” – 24”.
