SCHOOL CROSSING GUARD - CRS91 $12.00/HR
Hold up a hand-held "STOP" sign until all children are safely across the street. Report any unsafe observations, incidents or accidents involving students to school authorities. Record and report the license numbers of vehicles that disregard the Crossing Guard while in the crosswalk. Assist students that are lost, injured, or need assistance. Abide by all guidelines and regulations governing student crossing.
High School Diploma or GED equivalent. Must be able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Must be able to work effectively and be courteous with other employees and the public. Must be able to work independently with minimum supervision. Must be able to apply sound judgment. Knowledge of traffic control devices and traffic regulations pertaining to school and pedestrian crossings.
Previous experience working with children or the public is preferred.

Incumbent must be able to walk for an extended period primarily in an outside environment, including exposure to inclement weather conditions.
Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
The school Crossing Guard position pays $12.00 per hour and paid four hours per day when school is in session. Crossing Guards earn one sick day per month and receive four paid holidays. All crossing guards are paid bi-weekly.
We currently have several Crossing Guard positions available. If you are interested in this position, we will conduct an in person interview, background investigation, check your criminal history and contact your previous employers. If hired, you will be required to have a physical examination, audiogram and drug screen at department expense. You would receive training before assuming any position. We have a tentative start date as March 8, 2021.
