SEC Reporting Manager
OVERVIEW AND REPORTING RELATIONSHIP
With direction from Senior Finance leadership, this position provides coordination, direction and administration for the Company’s financial reporting function. This position also leverages cross-functional partnerships with the Corporate Accounting, FP&A and other finance departments to implement and maintain a high performing reporting environment. This position reports to the Corporate Controller with responsibility for financial reporting company wide.
OTHER REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES
Gathers data and prepares documents required for financial statements and footnotes and compliance (SEC) reporting requirements. Uses a formal process for appropriate data gathering, consolidation and analysis of financial data in connection with regulatory and related requirements. This is including but not limited to earnings release materials, 10-Q, 10-K, 8-K, proxy statements and the company’s annual report. Prepares cash flow statements, earnings release calculations, equity footnotes and other equity related disclosures. Potentially requires special skills in US GAAP, SEC and PCAOB, and equity accounting.
Ensures data integrity and proper accounting and with auditors who support the review and audit of SEC filings. Gathers reference material concerning new and existing technical accounting literature to ensure compliance.
Develop and manage External Reporting calendar. Manage the flow of information and supporting documentation from various parts of the company to ensure accurate and timely reporting.
Assess new and proposed accounting standards issued by the SEC and the FASB for impact to the company. Write position papers to determine proper accounting treatment where applicable.
Collaborate with the Internal Audit and SOX functions to ensure reporting requirements are in compliance.
Consults with and advises departments and managers regarding the reporting processes and information required for proper and timely disclosures.
Maintains an awareness of Company products, services and the related regulatory environment to effectively manage and comply with all regulatory reporting requirements and disclosures.
Background should include at least 3 years external audit experience while working for a Big 4 public accounting firm. Or another major firm with a minimum of 5 years of overall work experience. It is preferred that this individual has at least three years of private industry experience with at least two of those years performing financial reporting.
Strong background in SEC reporting is required including either heavy experience with multiple SEC clients while working in public accounting or currently responsible for producing SEC documents with a public company.
At least five or more years’ experience managing professional level staff is required.
Good leadership, relationship management with a wide variety of partners, collaboration, and interpersonal skills are required to perform the functions as described. The ability to build credibility, trust, respect, and cooperation among team members is essential.
A thorough knowledge and understanding of the business environment as normally obtained through the completion of a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance with an emphasis in Accounting. CPA designation is preferred.
