WSP has an immediate opening for a Building Construction Special Inspector, to join our management team helping oversee the $1.5 billion MBTA GLX Project in Somerville, MA, a large, complex, high profile rail/transit design/build (DB) effort. WSP is a major partner of the Program & Construction Management (PM/CM) team overseeing the project. The successful candidate will posess demonstrated construction inspection experience, a keen understanding of building materials sampling and testing requirements, with the versatility to monitor various elements of work simultaneously.
Duties and Responsibilities:
+ Effectively interface with client and the design-builder, while working with, and taking direction from the Special Inspection Manager.
+ Perform daily inspection of cast-in-place concrete, masonry and sprayed on fireproofing construction, and prepare test records, or daily reports.
+ Perform specialized testing of certain elements such as thickness and pull tests of fireproofing.
+ Assist as requested with the maintenance of special inspection documentation through eBuilder.
+ Ensure compliance to project plans and specifications.
# Job Requirements
+ Minimum of 5 years of relevant special inspection experience, or a combination of education and multiple years general inspection experience.
+ Professional certification in one or more of the following (ICC, ACI, NETTCP).
+ Effective verbal and written communication skills.
+ Hands-on familiarity with energy codes, mechanical codes and ADA requirements as it applies to occupied public spaces.
+ Associate of Science in Civil Technology, Architectural Technology, Building Technology or Construction Management.
+ Proficiency with MS WORD Suite
+ ACI or ICC Special Inspection for concrete, masonry or fireproofing
+ e-Builder experience
This role is subject to a client mandated drug/alcohol testing policy. As such, employee may be subject to random drug/alcohol tests.
