Assists Engineer/Surveyor in design and application of principles, methods, and techniques of Civil/Surveying duties and drafts detailed drawings, to include
topographical site plans, profiles, cross sections, subdivision plats, property exhibits, and other similar types of drawings and maps to be used for planning, development,
and construction of civil engineering products by performing the following duties.
Prepares project specifications and cost estimates.
Coordinates the work of several departments on projects.
Provides technical inspection on construction projects.
Full knowledge of regulations.
Interprets Engineer/Surveyor's rough sketches and plan redlines to create and edit drawings.
Creates topographic site plans, surfaces, and contours from field survey point data.
Designs road and utility alignments, existing and proposed grade profiles, and complex cross sections with road tapers and super elevations.
Designs and drafts detailed site layout, grading, utility, and erosion control plans.
Designs and drafts construction details and typical road sections.
Layout and draft subdivision plats and property exhibits.
Calculates earthwork volume and makes design modifications to balance earthwork quantities.
Prepares accurate quantity take-offs and cost estimates.
Assists Engineer in the preparation of reports, specifications, plans, construction schedules, and permitting for projects.
Provides technical support to other staff in area of expertise as a trainer and mentor. May provide duties as a supervisor.
Responsible for drawing review to assure drawings meet CADD and quality control standards.
Ability to perform design work with minimal or no supervision.
Provides direction and may supervise the activities of technicians and entry-levelproject engineers
Routinely communicates with principals, engineers, engineering technicians, and secretaries.
Performs other incidental and related duties as required and assigned.0
