Operations Finance Manager Responsibilities:
- Will serve as a central subject matter expert resource for the North America operations team in matters pertaining to Cost Accounting, Inventory Control, financial controls and GAAP compliance, and strategic operational and materials savings initiatives.
- Cost accounting support- Responsible for coordinating annual standard cost setting and periodic reviews of standards for accuracy and completeness. Develops and directs the preparation of reporting to compare actual results to forecast and plan as needed. May participate in the more complex cost accounting projects in support of business or operational strategies as needed.
- Serves as primary plant financial support for manufacturing plants with annual spend of $10M+. Responsible for month-end close, operating cost analyses, inventory control, and serves as key advisor to VP of Operations. Coordinates the collection and presentation of cost data pertaining production activities and summarizes at the management level.
- Management of analytical resources in support of Supply Chain and Engineering, and dedicated to analyzing and tracking material cost savings initiatives (including VAVE) that are reflected in operations cost reduction, PPV savings, and improved standard product margins.
- Inventory control and oversight- coordination and management of physical inventory counts, audits, and inventory control process design- including oversight and policy assessments of cycle count procedures within the plants. Manage consistent analysis and application of inventory reserves accounting for LOCOM and E&O policies within the two US plants, three distribution centers (two in US and one in Europe), and customer consignment locations.
- Operations analytics support- takes a leadership role for improving the operations' reviews of the Company's operating units, including monthly financial reporting and variance tracking, and establishment of operational KPIs designed to accurately measure performance and drive management focus. Plays a key role in development of periodic forecasts and budgets for US plant operations.
- Ability to work with large amounts of data; assists in various financial research projects, ad-hoc analyses, and process improvement.
Operations Finance Manager Qualifications:
- Bachelors’ degree and 5-10 years’ experience in related field with strong Finance & Accounting skills- CPA not required, but solid GAAP skills are important, MBA a big plus
- At least 3 years’ experience as a cost accountant or plant controller in a manufacturing (plant) environment
- Solid exposure to Supply Chain- freight, logistics, engineering. Examples of cross-functional project teams and financial analysis/modeling to support are major pluses
- Experience with leading inventory control projects and strategies- exposure to E&O (excess & obsolescence), physicals, PII (profit in inventory), IIT (inventory in transit), transfer pricing
- Has managed the capital planning process- appropriations, project ROI/payback analysis, cash flow projections, budget/forecast management
- Strong data skills- should have good ERP experience with systems like SAP, JDE, Oracle, Epicor (big plus), Sage, Netsuite, etc. Proven ability to navigate ERP to get needed data for analysis.
- Someone not afraid to drive innovation- pushing for process re-design and/or development where needed.
