Maps Data platform owns the infrastructure providing push/pull service to our partners to publish and retrieve conflated geospatial data from backend spatial database. We crunch terabytes of maps data on a weekly basis which powers maps scenarios for both Microsoft first party and third party customers. We are investing heavily on building next-gen Extract, Transform and Load (ETL) pipeline to decrease the latency of our data publishing cycles. This would deliver rapid release to our partners while ensuring data freshness. This is a highly challenging and rewarding environment and the software engineer we are looking for should ideally have the following qualities: + Solid engineer with a proven track record of delivering services/products in time bound schedule. + Strong individual contributor with proven ability of designing and building large scale systems. + Experience building scalable distributed solutions to store, process and publish big datasets. + Code and design reviews with attention to technical debt and complexity. **Responsibilities** + Improve performance, scalability and agility of data publishing platform. + Develop, test and deploy services to data publishing platform. + Develop ETL components that transforms data from third party provider feeds for business use cases. + Develop data analytics tool for deeper insights into processed big datasets. **Qualifications** + BS/MS in CS, EE or equivalent degree. + 7+ years of industry experience designing and developing enterprise scale services & platforms + 7+ years of hands-on software development experience in either C++or C# or Java + Solid analytical, debugging and problem solving skills + Experience working in agile environment using scrum practices. Preferred Skills: + Ability to thrive in a fast paced environment where smart decisions and trade-offs need to be made. + Experience in big data, cloud computing or distributed technologies is a huge plus. + Experience with Continuous Delivery practices. + Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
