Brief Description Designs, develops and analyzes Voice Over Internet Protocol (VOIP) network, including the planning of installations and maintenance of the VOIP system. Provides VOIP solutions, including, but not limited to Cisco Call Manager, Cisco Unified Contact Center, Cisco Unity Connection, and Voice Gateway. Interfaces with Network Architecture/Engineering to provide requirements for network engineering, implementation, and operations. Management Scope: Serves as team lead to lower level staff.
Detailed Description Configures dial plan schematics, UCCX, monitor transmission alerts and reporting of trunking and capacity metrics to adapt various systems and customer environments on a converged technology environment. Participates in high-level design of infrastructure with experts from other groups. Maintains the health of Voice Over IP networking voice systems and applications. Monitors performance issues and performs maintenance of network systems, including consulting with users to identify current operating procedures and system objectives; collaborating with other IT staff to meet objectives and adhere to defined business requirements and statutes. Coordinates and performs installation of new Voice Over Internet Protocol networks, hardware and software. Works effectively with other IT and non-IT personnel to gather requirements and create effective solutions. Serves as advisor or mentor to junior colleagues. Provides quick turnaround on VoIP tickets to maintain contractual Service Level Agreement (SLAs). Communicates effectively and continually seeks opportunities to increase internal customer satisfaction and deepen customer relationships. Coordinates vendor upgrades with department management and IT groups; applies system upgrades and patches; maintains program customization details; and facilitates processes to ensure Voice Over system continuity. Performs other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements Education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Information Technology, Mathematics, Engineering or in a job related field of study. Four (4) years related work experience directly involved in network infrastructure to include converged IP networks, routers, switches, voice gateways (VG310, VG320, 2901 Router) and Cisco IOS-based media gateway devices. Strong knowledge and understanding of IP service, networking/telecommunications, voice/data communications technology and UCCX. Ability to support and configure SIP and TDM based software installations, media gateways, troubleshooting voice services, call centers, LAN and WAN hardware components (i.e. various types of IP based products—Cisco CUCM and various 3rd party vendors/products). Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing, and establish and maintain effective working relationships with end users, department, IT groups, and vendors. Demonstrate ability to handle multiple complex projects. Effectively communicates difficult concepts and negotiates with others in a team environment. Required to be on call. Must pass background check for security-sensitive positions. Must possess a valid Texas Drivers License and good driving record. Will be required to provide a copy of 10-year driving history. Must maintain a good driving record and remain in compliance with Article II, Subdivision II of Chapter 90 of the Dallas County Code. “Individuals holding or considered for a position which has, or may have, access to criminal justice databases including the FBI Criminal Justice Information Systems, NCIC/TCIC and similar databases, must pass a national fingerprint-based records check prior to placement in such position and may be denied placement in such positions and/or access to such systems.
