The University Technology Office (UTO) is at the forefront of developing IT platforms and tools that add value to the student experience. As part of the UTO, the Server Administrator will contribute to the effective development, deployment and management of platforms that support Student Success Initiatives, Universal Learners, Virtual Desktops and many more technical initiatives for ASU. Perform system administration duties related to the deployment and maintenance of systems and components within ASU. Install, patch, upgrade, document, and provide expertise for environments currently in use. Ensuring HIPAA protocols and security are enforced.
Take ownership of assigned tasks, and execute with minimal supervision.
Proactively reduce technical debt and solve challenging technical problems.
Participate in the process activities currently followed by the team.
Participate in on-call rotation schedules to quickly respond to incidents and outages.
Participate in product teams and collaborative work to deliver a required product.
Advocate for and apply best practices, and reinforce processes.
Contribute to architectural, security, and deployment discussions that impact our ecosystem.
Maintaining a HIPAA compliant environment
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or closely related field AND four (4) years experience in server/network administration, OR, any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
Knowledge and experience in the following tools and technologies:
Microsoft Windows Support
Experience with systems engineering and/or building/designing systems in a virtual platform
such as XenServer, AHV, Hyper-V, VMware, etc.
Experience/familiarity with Agile methodologies
Excellent Communication, Logical And Reasoning Abilities
Ability to take direction from others while also being able to work independently
Self-starting, inquisitive, flexible, multi-tasking
Building/designing/deploying/managing systems or applications in Microsoft Windows
Building/designing/deploying/managing systems or applications in public cloud providers
Building/designing/deploying/managing systems or applications in Citrix XenApp,
XenDesktop, or Citrix Cloud
Experience/familiarity with Citrix XenApp/XenDesktop, AWS Workspaces/Appstream, Microsoft Virtual Desktop, or similar
Experience/familiarity with hypervisors including AHV, Hyper-V, XenServer, VMWare, or similar
Experience mapping compliance requirements and maintaining adherence to regulations such as FERPA, HIPAA, and PCI DSS
Experience/familiarity with Scrum processes
Experience/familiarity with Scrum Product Owner responsibilities and best practices
Experience/familiarity with ITIL framework
Demonstrable talent producing infrastructure and software/systems architecture diagrams
Demonstrable skills creating and providing documentation
Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
Activities are primarily performed in a regular, climate controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, standing, walking.
Frequent physical demands may include working in cramped and close surroundings subject to exposure to electrical connections.
Use office equipment including a desktop computer.
Lift and push objects of varying weights up to 50 pounds.
Clearly communicate to perform essential duties.
Regular review of completed tasks.
