**POSITION DESCRIPTION:** Under limited supervision, the **Shipping & Receiving Clerk** performs a combination of tasks to veryfy and keep records of incoming and outgoing shipments and prepares items for shipment. He/She will ensure materials are always available and that min/max quantities are maintained on a daily basis. The materials team is responsible for effectively executing the materials strategies of the organization within the business. The Shipping & Receiving Clerk reports to the Purchasing/Materials Manager. **ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:** 1. Using forklift to unload delivered materials to receiving area. 2. Receive materials into the inventory management system. 3. Stock materials at the assigned location within the production system. 4. Assists materials manager with maintaining inventory accuracy conducting weekly audits.. 5. Assists material manager with monthly cycle or annual inventory counts. 6. Work on projects with the the product and production staff to continuously improve visual re-order points for materials. 7. Assists the manager to update the expedite station communications boards insuring they reflect the latest up to date information by updating them throughout the day as business is conducted. 8. Responsible for working closely with production staff to insure non-conforming materials are identified and are accurately processed in a timely manner. 9. Assist in locating, re-locating, or removing inventory in production and/or parts department. **NOTE:** The above information is intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by employees within this classification. High school diploma or GED certificate required. Two-year college degree or associated training preferred. 2. Two years experience in a similar role, preferred. 3. Must be willing to become a licensed fork lift operator. 4. Must be able to lift 40 lbs. 5. Will Possess a valid driver's license and maintain an insurable driving record. 6. Must provide excellent customer service to production operations. 7. Proficient working with computers, demonstrate ability to work efficiently in the business system, MS Excel and JD Edwards ERP skills preferred. 8. Experience and or knowledge of Lean Principles preferred. 9. Experience with "point of use" inventory, working in a team environment, the use of "pull" systems and new product development processes is a plus. **WORKING CONDITIONS** + Able to perform work in a non-climate controlled metal manufacturing production environment + Must be able to work in an environment with noise(With 25decibal ear plugs in) at 75 decibels + Must be able to be on his/her feet, on concrete, for 90% of their shift and must be able to walk up to 75% of that 90% + Must be able to climb 13ft by way of 12inch rung ladders + Must be able to lift, push and or pull up to 40 lbs and carry that weight 5ft + Must be able to bend, stoop and crouch + Must be able to work with their arms elevated for periods up to 5 minutes at a time Alamo Group is proud to be an Equal Employment Opportunity, Affirmative Action employer.
