The Simulator Development and Integration group is leading the way in the development of advanced simulation training systems used in the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program (NNPP) for the training of our sailors. The organization continues to expand as the demand for high fidelity, reliable, and cost effective training solutions grows. Currently there are opportunities for highly qualified and motivated engineers to be involved in the numerous simulator projects which will be developed and delivered over the next decade. The organization is in need of versatile engineers that are comfortable working in a fast paced, cutting edge field in both individual and team roles. The successful candidate will be responsible for various stages of projects, from initial planning and development to installation and delivery.
Specific duties and responsibilities for this role include support for the following project functions/deliverables:
- work with subject matter experts to help define trainer scope and capabilities;
- development of the technical requirements;
- adjudicating technical issues;
- managing project infrastructure (integrated plans, schedules, status reports, resource management, and risk management);
- assisting in the placement of supplier contracts, following the progress of and reviewing vendor work
The position requires close interaction and coordination with other engineers for the projects to ensure successful completion of objectives.
Previous project management experience
BS degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university and a minimum of four years of relevant experience; or
MS degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university and a minimum of two years of relevant experience
BS degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university and a minimum of six years of relevant experience; or
MS degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university and a minimum of four years of relevant experience
Job Preferred Skills
Previous experience with vendor oversight, cost estimates, and technical writing
An understanding of manufacturing processes, tracking and quality assurance.
Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills and excellent written and oral communication skills are highly desirable.
The successful candidate must be able to work independently with little direction from management.
