Snow Software Administrator and Operations Manager
*** CONTRACT-TO-HIRE POSITION. CANNOT PROVIDE SPONSOSHIP ***. The candidate will be required to provide hands-on support as well on-demand mentoring. Fingerprinting will likely need to be a part of the background check for this individual one hired.
LOCATION: 100% remote.
PROJECT: Snow is vender provided COTS tool that provides software and hardware asset management and software license management across our enterprise. Because our IT enterprise is so large, the system is constantly on edge and is in desperate need of a technical upgrade. We require someone with deep technical knowledge and experience with this particular software tool and would be capable of actually doing the technical work as well as tracking, planning, prioritizing, mentoring and directing work done by a few others to get this system back on track. At the same time this person will be assisting in developing the requirements and selection criteria for a follow-on competition in this same tool space. The current vendor product may be selected or another vendor’s product may be selected.
TOP REQUIREMENTS: Snow License Manager experience is critical. Not just as a user, but as a tool administrator in a large and complex enterprise. I would expect a minimum of 5 years, with longer being highly desirable. But the key is the depth of experience, not just longevity. Being a user of the tool for 10 years is not sufficient. Being able to set up Windows servers as part of the tools infrastructure as well as troubleshoot problems with clients on other operating systems is also essential. There is some use of Github, Jenkins, and Venafi, but the current team members are handling that, so it is beneficial, not mandatory.
IDEAL BACKGROUND: - Experience with Snow License Manager in a very large enterprise - Experience with Software Asset Management - Microsoft SQL Query (3-4 years of experience minimum) - Familiarity with Software Compliance - Experience with Windows Server, Linux, Mac operating systems - Experience in leading an application support team - Ability to lead a team remotely.

7. Daily status meeting with offshore to review system health
8. Review and approve Snow agent releases
9. Review tickets opened on vendor customer portal and escalate as needed
10. Manage server OS upgrades
11. Evaluate new versions of the product
