The licensed clinical social worker will work on the 8 bed Adolescent inpatient unit located at University Hospital as part of a multidisciplinary team, and will be part of both the Social Work Division of the Department of Psychiatry and the Department of Social Work at Upstate Medical University. Responsibilities include short-term individual and family psychotherapy and working closely with the child psychiatrist/director of the unit, psychologist, nurse practitioner, medical social worker and day staff to provide high quality stabilization and treatment for high risk 12-17 year old youth. Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) will be the treatment focus of the program. The clinical social worker will attend yearly hospital-required performance evaluations and will maintain needed Continuing Education credits by attending Department of Psychiatry Grand Rounds and outside conferences. New York State LCSW-R social worker from an accredited training program with a practice focus on adolescents and families required. Minimum of 6 years relevant post-master's experience (preferably in a hospital and/or mental health care environment) required. Experience working with high-risk youth in a multidisciplinary team setting and/or inpatient psychiatric setting and providing DBT treatment to high-risk youth is strongly preferred.
