The Virtual Private Cloud Network Engineering (VPC NetEng) team is a team dedicated to ensuring that the IBM Cloud is at the forefront of cloud technology, from data center design to network architecture to storage and compute clusters to flexible infrastructure services. We are looking for a Senior Software Engineering Manager to join our team, who innovates & shares our passion for winning in the cloud marketplace. **This position is for a Software Engineering Manager who should have** **at least 10 years' industry experience.** In this role, you will work as the manager of the ICP Core team with the following key responsibilities: + Manage a team of highly skilled, senior software development and/or test engineers responsible for designing and implementing the control plane managing the cloud network infrastructure. + Establish relationships with other managers and leaders to ensure the timely and accurate delivery of requirements and solutions. + Work with the team leadership to establish achievable goals. + Ensure the team utilizes best practices. + Actively work to build and maintain a highly collaborative, effective, and productive team. + Be an active champion as a representative of the team throughout the company. + Lead meaningful planning to improve software, systems, and processes. To summarize, in this role you will engage in leading a team that performs in all aspect of the lifecycle of the IBM’s NaaS, from idea to architecture and through deployment, operation, and improvement ensuring that our clients have the most reliable and performant experience possible. **This opportunity is for someone in the continental United States with a preference for Austin, TX or Dallas, TX.** **Required Professional and Technical Expertise** + 10+ years’ experience as with systems and/or software engineering. + 5+ years’ experience with software development or software test or similar discipline. + 3+ years’ experience in an operational environment requiring 99.999% uptime. + 5+ years’ experience as a first line manager. + 3+ years’ experience managing a team in a software development environment. + Experience with C/C++, Python, or Go. + Strong experience with Git. + Experience with OpenStack or similar proprietary cloud like Azure or AWS. + Experience with CICD and their pipelines; experience with Zuul or Jenkins a plus. + Experience with containers and HA clusters; experience with Docker and Kubernetes a plus. **Preferred Professional and Technical Expertise** + Excellent knowledge of TCP/IP networking. + Strong background in network engineering desired. + Hands-on data center operational experience desired. + Proven ability to collaborate and work well within a team. + Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. **About Business Unit** **Your Life @ IBM** **About IBM** **Location Statement** **Being You @ IBM** IBM is committed to creating a diverse environment and is proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
