Position Overview The Software Quality Assurance Engineer II sets superior quality standards and is responsible for creating customer satisfaction by assuring that Coinstar software performs as specified. This position provides outstanding expertise in the area of Quality Assurance (QA) through the design, creation and execution of complex test cases in collaboration with other members of the Engineering team. Key Responsibilities • Work directly with the team of QA engineers on assigned projects, providing comprehensive knowledge in the areas of test planning, design, and execution. • Interpret project specifications (requirements, architecture, functional and design) and build the associated QA documentation. • Participate in project review and communicate test status in daily stand-ups and walk-through milestones. • Use industry standard test management tools to determine stories and derive test details and log defects. • Prepare and maintain the test design, high-level plan, test cases, and traceability for the system under test. • Work with the development team, business analyst, and project leads as necessary to decompose requirements and ensure coverage and keep the test phase progressing. • Responsible for the full life-cycle of the test phase of a project, from its kick-off to delivery, and readiness to be deployed to production. • Perform multiple test processes such as test task estimation, test execution, regression testing, traceability, functional system testing, and automated testing where possible. • Provide input in to test metrics and ensure QA best practices and adherence to QA policy. • Plan, define and design test approach and provide qualitative and quantitative status of defects. • Document technical and analytical scope related to the testing team and its efforts. • Provide effective defect reporting, test results, status report, and progress tracking. • Analyze and replicate production issues in QA. • May execute automated test scripts. • Escalate information as deemed necessary. Education & Experience • High School Degree required; College Degree preferred. • 5+ years proven success designing and implementing test specifications for software projects of significant size and complexity. • Programming experience with high level tools such as Visual Basic, Visual Test, Lotus Script, Microsoft SQL. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities • Self-directed and result-oriented. • Ability to work effectively within a team. • Able to work under pressure of deadlines. • Proven ability to accurately estimate quality assurance work based on written requirements. • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. • Clear understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle milestones/deliverables. Business Travel • This position requires minimal to no travel. Physical Requirements Sedentary work involves remaining in a stationary position most of the time in front of a computer, using a keyboard, mouse and telephone. Regularly operate a computer and other office equipment. Occasionally move about the work site to access file cabinets, office equipment, etc. Exert up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or regularly move objects.
