The Legal Group is looking for a Special Counsel to support the Bank’s financial supervision and regulation and lending functions. This is a senior-level role reporting to the Associate General Counsel and is a key member of the banking and regulatory leadership team. We are looking for someone to bring thought leadership and expertise in support of the Bank’s Financial Institution Supervision and Credit function.
What You’ll Do
Provide counsel and support to the Bank’s supervision, applications, consumer compliance, fintech, and credit functions on issues relating to the Bank Holding Company Act, Change in Bank Control Act, Bank Merger Act, Federal Reserve Act, Bank Secrecy Act, Dodd-Frank Act, Community Reinvestment Act, Electronic Funds Transfer Act, Truth in Lending Act, and the Uniform Commercial Code
Oversee the day-to-day management of application related work and field legal questions from examination staff
Support the Bank and Legal Division’s strategic direction and objectives
Provide input and analysis regarding proposed and amended law and regulations
Participate in creation and delivery of training related to financial institution, banking, and secured lending legal matters
Develop and enhance internal procedures and legal templates
What We’re Looking For
JD from a nationally recognized ABA accredited law school and excellent academic credentials
Must be a member in good standing with the State Bar of California or be able to satisfy the requirements for eligibility as a registered in-house counsel
10+ years of Federal and California financial institution law experience in a national law firm focused on bank holding company and banking laws and regulation; regulatory agency experience, secured lending and consumer protection experience is a plus
Mindset geared toward pragmatic solutions and using time efficiently and effectively
A team player mindset, pitching in wherever needed
