|Lab Specialist is responsible for providing process documentation, experimentation, technical assistance and design support during daily operations of science, engineering, computer, or technology labs working alongside curriculum developers, researchers, and instructors in order to better serve HPS students via establishment of high quality CTE (Career and Technical Education), PBL and STEM programs.|
o Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year educational institution
o Minimum one year of experience in the field (preferred)
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
o Develop, maintain, and improve set-ups, procedures and process documentation in HPS science, engineering, computer, and technology labs.
o Provide assistance to improve existing HPS STEM SOS Model via creating manuals and workshops.
o Assist in the improvement of Technology, CTE, and Engineering curriculum aligned with career pathways that ensure integration with 21st-century skills.
o Work with all related HPS Staff to create training modules, workshops and manuals of the Technology, CTE and Engineering PBL Program.
o Perform routine equipment and machine maintenance and preventative maintenance.
o Assist teachers and students in the interpretation of operating manuals.
o Properly use all required safety equipment and devices and ensure students and teachers are instructed how to operate equipment safely.
o Graphic design and production for visual post elements
o Create, schedule and publish high quality, consistent and engaging original social media content on a daily/weekly basis
o Conduct testing of new or existing technology products while working with teachers, curriculum developers, and curriculum coaches to provide technical solutions for new machines/tools p
o Supervise student/teacher work progress at science, engineering, computer, and technology labs providing on-spot safety guidelines.
o Offer maintenance and basic reparation of the equipment and machinery at science, engineering, computer, and technology labs.
o Publish safety protocols and guidelines for technology labs, STEM Labs, wood/metal/machine shops and Maker Spaces at HPS campuses.
o Perform other duties as assigned.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
o Experience working with hi-tech tools, hardware, and heavy/light machinery.
o Content writing experience and graphic design skills (preferred)
o Proficient in digital publishing and design tools
o Ability to communicate effectively in both written and oral forms with all levels of management, both internal and external to the district.
o Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, teachers, mentors and HPS paraprofessionals.
o Ability to operate digital manufacturing tools and equipment.
o Ability to use advanced design software such as Adobe Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere), CAD design, spreadsheet and word processing software.
o Ability to troubleshoot technical issues and come up with efficient solutions.
o Ability to organize special events for assigned location(s)
o Ability to use computer including software, database used by the district, spreadsheet and word processing software, calculator, copy machine and telephone.
o Ability to analyze data
o Ability to use effective interview techniques, effective public speaking skills, and problem-solving skills
o Thrives in a fast-paced environment
o Strong analytical and communication skills
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
o Light Work: may require the occasional light lifting.
o Nights and weekend activities will be occasionally required.
o Position is in lab setting and may involve prolonged work at a desk or station.
o Moderate travel is required.
Role/ Salary Band 6
Dallas/ Fort Worth and Central Office - Houston
Salary minimum: $43, 000 Salary maximum: $60,200
Austin and San Antonio Districts: $2,000 less
