The Senior Accountant is responsible for managing the overall plant asset in accounting; performing as-builts and unitizations, reconciliation of asset and depreciation accounts, creating work orders, and entering closing journal entries; reviewing items against the capital expenditure policy and provides quarterly PBC data. The position is located in Gig Harbor, Washington.
Analyzes project data for unitization readiness complete as-builts and unitizations monthly
Completes quarterly as-builts for meters and services unitization
Creates non-specific projects within Power Plan, and keeps Washington Operations, Engineering, and Construction departments apprised of project codes
Provides manual billing for contributed aid projects
Runs all routine monthly asset and depreciation reports and provides asset costs and statistical information as requested
Reconciles asset and depreciation accounts in Blackline
Tracks asset additions and retirements, prepares and files annual property tax affidavits for eight counties
Manages Washington Department of Revenue personal property audits
Tracks Real and Personal Property valuation changes and processes appeals and amendments when needed
Completes WA State’s due diligence requirements for unclaimed property. Compiles and analyzes data and submits unclaimed property report to WA State Dept. of Revenue
Reconciles balance sheet accounts in Blackline prepares and maintains worksheets for auditor quarterly PBC (Provided by Client) requests
Performs other duties as assigned
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Finance or Accounting or equivalent experience
Five years of experience in general ledger and construction accounting
Proficiency in the use of MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and Explorer
CPA or MBA desired
Knowledge of Blackline, Work Day, PeopleSoft, and Power Plant desired
Valid Washington State Driver’s License
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge and understanding of accounting principles
Knowledge of real and personal property tax rules and reporting procedures
Knowledge of general office skills, including filing, records maintenance, and word processing
Ability to gain proficiency in the customer billing system
Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing, with co-workers, customers, and outside agencies
Ability to use job-related equipment
Ability to meet deadlines
Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills

Excellent research skills for online retrieval of various regulatory directives

Salary Range: $76,900 - $134,000
