Description
The Senior Analyst, Residuals & Industry Forecasting is responsible for determining the residual values of assigned vehicles and supporting the research and analysis of the organization’s industry forecasts. To successfully complete these responsibilities, the incumbent will need to have exceptional analytical skills and is expected to possess or gain a deep knowledge of the automotive industry with an emphasis on segment, brand and model sales trends, key economic indicators and consumer trends. The Senior Analyst, Residuals & Industry Forecasting will be a key thought leader and contributor to the ongoing setting of residual values for vehicles, collaborating with the predictive analytics team to enhance the statistical forecast model, addressing industry analysis inquiries, compiling reports for clients and fulfilling other ad hoc requests from colleagues, management, public relations and the press.
Position responsibilities:
- Grow and maintain a comprehensive understanding of the new and used car market, from a wholesale and retail perspective, including details down to the latest vehicle equipment and features.
- Perform residual value analysis pertaining to specific models using data analysis methods and advanced analytical tools; assignments can include forensic studies on the residual values of specified models and a comparison to other models in their segments.
- Ensure assigned vehicles are thoroughly analyzed, vetted and completed on a timely basis for the residual valuation process.
- Develop thoroughly researched, analyzed and vetted positions for both internal reports and inquiries from clients, the press, and public relations.
- Lead internal and client meetings, including presentation of residual value forecasts, analysis, and reports.
- Review statistical model outputs from the predictive analytics department and provide thoughtful feedback to improve its reliability down to the make-model-trim level.
- Attend industry events such as conferences and product reviews as both a participant and in some instances as a subject matter expert, representing the organization
- Occasional overnight travel (up to 20%) by land and/or air.
Qualifications
Essential skills, knowledge and abilities:
-- Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or four to six years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
-- A background in a quantitative field such as mathematics, statistics, or economics. -- Ability to transform and integrate large data sets into existing analytical tools and reports -- Acute analytical abilities, attention to detail, and robust research capabilities. -- Ability to work independently and formulate an analysis plan for ad hoc requests. Ability to draw conclusions and communicate them via reports and presentations. -- Proficient personal computer skills including electronic mail, record keeping, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc. -- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. -- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. -- Ability to define problems, collects data, establishes facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
