The Business Systems Tester will be responsible for testing configuration and coding changes to multiple applications per established processes. To perform the testing, they will need to communicate with change stakeholders and with the development team. Testers perform other functions necessary to keep the system in compliance with Ally policies and regulations (e.g. end user access control and role review). An ideal candidate will have a natural curiosity about how credit systems work, knows how to find errors or issues with systems, and the aspiration to develop into a person who analyzes and then executes development changes. This individual will work closely with a broad group of matrix partners, including business operations, IT, Risk, Finance/Pricing, and Product Management, etc. to support and coordinate the implementation of business requirements systemically.
Review description of change and prepare an appropriate test plan
Communicate with configuration team and with others to clarify what was intended
Execute test plan and work with configuration team, IT, and outside vendors to resolve defects
Work to develop and execute automated testing solutions and maintain library of test seeds
Update company records, logs, reports, and internal control systems with information and test results
As requested, respond to inquiries about possible defects or system issues
Conduct post implementation analysis using an information warehouse and querying tools
Represent Configuration and Testing team in defect reporting and UAT release meetings
Backfill daily tasks for other team members as necessary
Undergraduate degree or equivalent training, Graduate degree preferred, but not required
Minimum of 2 years experience within QA related role supporting software or business systems development
General understanding of logic and programming including the ability to understand data models, with emphasis on workflow design
Experience with developing a robust testing approach and proven background in application testing and quality assurance
Experience with application testing, including backend testing, functional, usability, regression, load/stress and performance testing
Proficient in intermediate MS applications (Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint)
High level of written and oral communication skills as well as attention to detail
Strong organizational skills and time management abilities
Ability to adapt to change quickly
Experience with an agile development process
Experience with SAS, Python or other programming languages for creating test automation and data mining for test seeds is a plus
Understanding of systemic credit underwriting processes is a plus
Experience with HP Quality Center or similar testing software a plus
