The Consumer and Device Sales (CDS) organization works with ecosystem partners to build, market and sell a winning portfolio of devices that delight customers and earns fans around the world. The WW Category team has an opening for the WW Windows Consumer Category lead. This role will provide leadership for the Windows Consumer business to the Field Category Management, Sales, and Channel Marketing teams to create and execute marketing initiatives to drive sell through of those 3rd party OEM products. Role purpose Lead the Category Sales Management discipline for the Microsoft Consumer and Device Sales (CDS) organization at worldwide level. This will include: • Upstream alignment with our Product Groups (PG) to influence WW product strategies, Go to Market activities to ensure category growth. • Downstream alignment with our regions: a successful Category Leader will drive investments and land regional and local priorities across the globe. They will engage with sales teams and channel and device marketing to develop plans that will be successfully executed. This organization at the leadership of the category is accountable for sell through Consumer Devices revenue. This role will report to the General Manager (GM) of WW Category Management. **Responsibilities** This leader will: + **People -** Lead the Windows Consumer Category Management Org including directly managing a team of 11 people in addition to focus on leading a large, diverse organization of Category Managers across 5 regions to identify growth opportunities across markets and categories. Own the development of building category skills within the category management team + **Plan -** Develop worldwide Sales, Marketing and Channel plans: identify key consumer segments for compete and growth opportunities. Lead the seasonal category planning across all categories to ensure we deliver growth across all consumer products, devices and services helping Microsoft and its partners grow revenue, profits and share + **Execute -** Drive Investment and Marketing Alignment - Align investments and marketing to gain efficiencies across all consumer stakeholders by communicating the strategy; manage thru channel investments and ensure highest impact with investment. + **Manage & Monitor** - Manage & Monitor the business identifying upside and managing risk or gaps along with representing the voice of the partner and customer so we can build fans. Own annual, quarterly and monthly planning and reporting motions. + **Transform -** in partnership with our engineering, product groups and OEM team, develop new business models to accelerate customer acquisition while growing revenue and gross margin. Ability to reinvent ourselves and secure long-term growth leveraging approaches that will deliver loyal, highly satisfied, actively engaged customers. **Key competencies** + **Marketing Principles** - Develop integrated marketing plans and strategic market objectives by channel partner, guide marketing execution and measure execution and return on investment (ROI). Good understanding of digital marketing strategies and transformation + **Strategic Business Planning** - Create strategic business objectives and category plans, coordinate segment and partner prioritization, ability to set clear goals/timelines for the team to achieve or exceed on revenue and scorecard targets (units sold, revenue), influence assortment and volume builds, and execute against the product lifecycle. + **Consultative Leadership** - Influence partners with category subject matter expertise to support the sales motion across the channels. Impact and influence the product business groups and drive cross group collaboration. Influence across internal and external teams to drive alignment and synergies. + **Collaborative** - and consistently demonstrates strong leadership skills across diverse groups and at all levels. Ability to easily navigate corporate stakeholders and communicate clearly in ambiguous situations. Strong partner management "discipline" of working with people; in a structured way, orchestrating teams through complex solutions, commercial terms and organizational ambiguity + **Analysis and Insight** - Use internal and external data/research to assess industry/market trends, incorporate new concepts into marketing strategies and understand the relevance of Microsoft products in partner portfolios. + **Tell the Product Story** - Develop and Land product and category stories globally and locally so sales teams can align partners to Microsoft priorities. You will enable CDS to tell the Consumer and Commercial story. **Qualifications** + Marketing/Business Bachelor's Degree - MBA preferred + 10+ years of experience in category management, Marketing or Sales + 5+ years of experience building and leading teams + Proven success at business building (business/channel development, entrepreneur, change management) + Executive communication skills + Ability to lead in a complex, matrixed international environment + Comfort with ambiguity and driving transformation + Travel required ~25% Microsoft is an equal opportunity employer.
