Mission Systems in Rockford, IL is seeking a PLM Solution Architect who will be responsible for leading system and solution design efforts for complex Mission Systems business and PLM initiatives. Working with the Enterprise Architect this individual will lead assessment and develop recommendations that will establish enterprise technology platforms and design patterns.
This person evaluates and selects from existing and emerging technologies those options best fitting business/project needs. Performs evaluations and develops recommendations for new selection and purchase decisions He/she sets designs and the direction of the technical platform, collects and organizes project and enterprise requirements into technical requirements by aligning all efforts under corporate PLM strategic initiatives.
Leads activities related to research, requirements gathering, modeling, visualization and communication of PLM solution for a specific project or technology space. Facilitates requirement meetings, solution design analysis, and solution design for PLM architecture projects; translates requirements into technology components to best solve the business requirement. Completes multiple phases of current and long-term strategic goal assessment to develop operational system requirements. Models existing state and desired state system functionality. Documents necessary changes to existing infrastructure and system configuration to support strategic goals. Analyzes data on existing processes to identify system conflicts, roadblocks, and bottlenecks. Provides expertise in application and network integration. Initiates checkpoints with projects, conducts reviews of solutions and patterns and communicates decisions made regarding the architecture along with recommendations on how to implement the Enterprise Architectural directions.
Applies enterprise architecture standards, classifications, and agreed upon patterns to both project and enterprise solutions. Defines technical system solution required to implement the proposed design. Develops standards for the specific technology and defines reference architecture for the product that can be reused as building blocks for other solutions.
Provides subject matter expertise for a specific technology/function to lead system integration efforts, troubleshoots implementation issues, and develops/maintains technology strategy and roadmap direction. Participates as a change agent to implement new strategic directions and technology decisions. Maintains awareness of emerging technology and software trends as well as infrastructure tool sets of at least one technology or function domain.
Makes PLM and/or business process improvement recommendations to senior level associates and managers. Develops and maintains positive relationships with other functions and between PLM disciplines to effectively guide the development of cutting-edge PLM architecture. Maintains expertise in emerging technology and software trends as well as infrastructure tool sets. Performs moderately complex cost/benefit analysis when investigating purchase and development decisions. Considers multiple, varied alternatives and recommends the appropriate solution based on solution and cost/benefit analysis. Helps to develops project budgets. Develops and executes pilot and or proof of concept activities to validate technical solution recommendation.
Support the Business Units by conveying industry trends, enterprise technology strategy and define technical solutions which meet the business requirement and deliver reference architecture as needed.
Conduct architecture impact analysis of identified changes by business and ensure optimal solution selection for business process improvements.
Work with the PLM enterprise architect on a daily basis to help support the architecture needs, project teams, functional and technical analysts to design solution architecture that meets operational requirements and is scalable, easily maintained, secure and highly available.
Ensure solutions are production ready and meet the organization standards and partner with the project teams to oversee the implementation of the solution.
Work with other Enterprise and Solution Architects and Project Teams to facilitate alignment among architecture decisions
Identify and share best-practice knowledge amongst the other UTAS PLM architect community
Develop and produce Architecture artifacts, technical designs, strategy documents and other technical artifacts.
Facilitate and manage evaluations and proof of concept activities as subject matter expert.
Demonstrated leadership to manage conflict and drive the best practice in PLM space
Prefer to have Aerospace and Defense industry experience
Work with internal and external PLM Windchill technical resources, and assist in managing technical and functional changes associated with PLM projects
Provide expertise to ensure realization of changes and enhancements to the implemented PLM systems, and assisting with architecture needs of the Oracle E-Business Suite applications, components, extensions, integrations and reports.
Provide support for the overall solution design and configuration of PLM Windchill systems, how it interacts with other integrated systems, custom extensions and reports, integration components, reports and dashboards components.
Associate Degree Engineering Technologies/Sciences BS or MS Engineering w/5 years of experience, emphasis as PLM Windchill Solution Architect for various customers, project life-cycle management systems, product data management, and associated networking system
- Have had at least 1 enterprise implementation experience with PLM Windchill as a solution architect
- Experienced in use of PLM Windchill 10.x/11.x - Foundation, PDMLink, ProjectLink and Windchill APIs
- Strong knowledge in Windchill Change Management, Part Management, BOM management, Document Management, Configuration Management
- Strong knowledge on Windchill Type Management, Preferences, Business Rules, Workflow, OIR, versioning schemes and Access Control
- Experience in integrating Windchill with ERP / MES.
- Experience with product data architecture in PLM context
- Experience in PLM Windchill Upgrades and bulk Data migration from other systems
- Experience with DFAR/NIST 800.171 a plus
Excellent Communication and Presentation skills to deliver to all levels of the customer organization.
