Essential FunctionsThe candidate will be responsible for providing reliability, safety and maintainability (RMS) analysis in support of new and previously certified designs of aerospace hydraulic systems and components. Analysis will include, reliability predictions, failure mode and effect analysis, fault tree analysis, maintenance task analysis, MSG-3 analysis, etc. New development program tasks will be schedule driven and tracked, ensuring successful performance. The candidate will take direction from the Engineering Team lead.
Major Duties• Review customer Technical Requirement Documents, Statements of Work and contracts to determine the applicable RMS and Technical Publication deliverables • Coordinate requirements internally and with customer to ensure deliverables are complete and accurate • Lead the development of RMS analysis and deliverables as part of a multi-functional team • Generate Reliability Predictions for aerospace hydraulic systems and components predicting Mean Time Between Failures, Operational Reliability and Dispatch Interruption Rates. • Generate Failure Mode and Effect Analysis defining component functions, what can cause loss of the functions and the component, system and aircraft level effects • Perform system level Fault Tree Analysis to ensure system design meets the system level functional hazard requirements • Develop maintainability analysis, including Maintenance Task Analysis, Mean Time To Repair and MSG-3 analysis. • Accurately convey and assure suppliers understanding all reliability, maintainability, safety and technical publication requirements • Analyze fielded product performance to identify potential safety failures, improve reliability and reduce warranty costs • Review and approve Engineering Drawings, Specifications, Test Plans/Reports and Failure Analysis Reports to verify compliance with safety and reliability requirements • Interface directly with Suppliers, Customer, Internal personal and Program Managers to ensure data deliverables are dispositioned and submitted on schedule. Effective written, verbal, and presentation skills are essential. • Define best practice and capture Lessons Learned from analysis development through the fielded product performance to apply to future programs • Support design reviews with suppliers and/or customers • Manage development programs with achievement of program objectives including schedule, cost and NRE expenditures. Report on performance and take corrective action as required. • Actively participate in team meetings and support development of RMS&TP capabilities • Actively participate in continuous improvement initiatives • Support component failure investigations with supplier/customers • Provide support to Sustaining for legacy hydraulic system programs. Includes direct involvement with Customer Support and Customers to provide resolution of system and hardware problems/failures.
Qualifications• BS in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering, or related Engineering Degree. • Working knowledge of reliability, system fault tree and maintainability analysis and certification. • High degree of familiarity, experience and technical knowledge of aircraft functions such as flight controls, landing gear, electrical systems, and hydraulic systems. • High degree of familiarity, experience and technical knowledge of aerospace hydraulic component including valves, solenoids, switches, reservoirs, accumulators, filter manifolds, electric motors and hydraulic pumps. • Basic knowledge of SAE ARP, FAA Advisory Circulars and Military Specifications • Working knowledge of 14 CFR Part 25.1309 compliance including ARP 4754A and ARP 4761 • Experience in problem resolution, root cause analysis, design reviews, validation and verification, customer interaction and presentations related to product development. • Computer Skills – Database development, Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Lotus Notes, MS Project. Fault Tree modeling using CAFTA (Beneficial but not required as we will train) • Willing to travel (Domestic & International) • US Citizenship
