OB SUMMARY:
The People Operations Manager will be a key member of the growing People Team. The ideal candidate will have a collaborative leadership style with the ability to influence others into action and to think creatively about solutions. This person will be responsible for creating effective programs, not simply procedures for the sake of process, to help the company meet its cultural and operating objectives. The People Operations Manager must be a champion of the company’s culture, ensuring its prominence in all parts of the organization.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Build and lead a high-functioning People Team to support daily operations and long-term development goals
- Own and oversee all People Team functions, including recruiting, onboarding, offboarding, employee relations and discipline, and compliance
- Lead salary and benefit negotiation process for corporate roles by creating industry benchmarks and communicating with candidates
- Support and implement HR and talent acquisition initiatives aligned with the overall business strategy
- Communicate the employee orientation process, company benefit programs and all company communications including handbook and HR policies
- Measure employee morale and determine methods for improving overall employee satisfaction
- Act as liaison between the company and outside legal and professional resources
- Ensure that all employment policies follow current laws and regulations
- Investigate and administer workers compensation claims, record keeping, and documentation
- Assist managers with employee relations and performance issues
- Act as a key-trusted advisor to the organization by staying abreast of best practices and industry trends
- Coach and counsel management on key talent matters, including employee concerns and disciplinary actions
- Analyze knowledge gaps, identify training needs, and create or coordinate appropriate training for employees and leadership
- Provide data, key indicators and qualitative feedback to align employment decisions to current and future workforce needs
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Proven work experience as an HR Manager; managerial experience a must
- HR Manager competencies - recruiting, staffing, training, employee relations, compensation and benefits, and culture
- Must work well under pressure in a very fast-paced environment and able to work independently with minimal direction
- Strong interpersonal skills, addressing complaints/resolving problems, rewarding/disciplining employees, and appraising performance
- Strong communication skills – must be able to convey facts and information clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing
- Ability to create and work in collaborative group environments
- Knowledge of legal and regulatory requirements for CA (e.g., OSHA, FLSA, ADA, Workers Comp, Unemployment, etc.)
- Ability to invite and provide constructive feedback
- Eager to learn and willing to perform any functions required to ensure the success of the People Team
- Proficient with MS suite
REQUIREMENTS:
- 5+ years’ experience in a human resources supervisory position
- Bachelor’ Degree in Human Resources or related business field
- Expert knowledge of local, state and federal employment laws
- Ability to travel 20% of the time
