NexGen Data Systems is seeking an experienced Network Engineer with expertise in engineering and administering complex worldwide WAN and LAN environments supporting networks running a variety of different routing and encryption protocols (BGP, OSPF, LISP, GetVPN, IPSec). The ideal candidate would be well versed in Cisco and Juniper networking and security platforms, with experience solving complex routing issues using creative solutions. The candidate will be expected to have a detailed understanding of large-scale WAN design concepts and associated technologies (i.e. QoS, monitoring, security, network automation) as they relate to providing a secure, reliable, fault-tolerant network supporting a large health provider. The candidate will join a team of Senior Network Engineers and Architects and work in a collaborative multi-functional team environment. Network certifications such as CCNP (Routing and Switching or Security), CCIE (Routing and Switching, Security, or Service Provider), or other expert level certifications are desired, but not required. A background in scripting and software defined networking is a plus, but not required. Roles and Responsibilities Research and design complex network solutions to provide creative network solutions. Provide Tier 3 support in the troubleshooting of complex network and routing issues and, if needed, perform analysis to identify root cause of any performance issues and take appropriate corrective action to resolve issues. Perform security hardening and work with IACA teams to conduct security scansaudits. Work with deployment and sustainment teams to ensure feasibility of deployment and operation of network designs. Work with senior leadership to communicate network designs and solutions clearly and effectively. Evaluate, design, and test new cloud-based systems and solutions sets. RequiredDesired Skills Bachelors Science Degree in Engineering, Computer Science or Mathematics and two (2) years direct experience in the field or a minimum of 4 years direct experience in the field 5+ years of experience working with WAN technologies such as BGP, MPLS, or LISP is required 4+ years of experience with LAN technologies such as QoS, OSPF, or Spanning Tree 3+ years of experience with encryption transport protocols such as IPSec, GetVPN, or DMVPN 4+ years of experience in the documentation and diagramming of complex network environments is required 2+ years of experience in the evaluation network equipment againsts a set of requirements Experience in the DoD STIG security requirements is desired Experience with Ixia Breakingpoint appliance for performance testing is desired Strong written and oral communication skills Ability to work cooperatively in a multi-functional team environment (team player) is a must Requirements Other requirements A strong sense of urgency including self-governance on task priority Eagerness to learn with a quality, detailed-focus is essential Ability to collaborate with awareness and responsiveness to customer needs Commitment to continuous development and improvement Must meet the requirements to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret clearance, as well as all required security certifications and trainings.
