Firestone product is unique and optimized to every application, the product engineering group is a key function that enables the company to design, manufacture and sell solution products to the customers. Responsible for design and development of air springs for automotive and Heavy duty vehicles. In these duties, the engineer will work with many entities both inside and outside the company to achieve the design goals.
ResponsibilitiesMentor members to understand, initiate and conduct moderately complex new programs to develop and establish merit of complex new products, process or equipment not presently in existence or requested by a specific customerMentor members to understand, initiate and conduct moderately complex new programs to meet a specific customer application within a reasonable time spanMentor team to perform moderately complex customer design calculations, testing and development workConceives initiates and conducts highly complex new product, process or equipment development programs to meet a specific customer application and obtain a production order within a reasonable time span.Support / develop new process and systems within the department to help improve on time delivery of projectsProvides information to sales and management as to estimate of the required investment, time and feasibility of a proposed project.Conducts product, process or equipment development programs so as to facilitate designed profitability when turned over to production manufacturingKeep a close track and takes all necessary actions to ensure shipment of samples for customer testing and approval within the prescribed time limitsEnsures that a product , process or equipment specification is written before an item is turned over to production manufacturingMentor members to understand, design, initiate and conduct necessary testing programs to establish the merit of proposed constructions and materials or processesMentor team members to write technical reports covering all aspects of engineering characteristics and development programsConceives, designs, initiates and conducts necessary testing programs to validate proposed constructions and materials or processesMonitors closely all the testing programs to establish engineering characteristics of new products, evaluate and reduce test data and info to presentable formsGathers various design suitable charts, graphs, tables and illustrations, writes technical reports covering all aspects of engg. characteristics and development programs as well as for proposals to customersWorks with test lab personnel to design appropriate test fixtures for test lab equipmentPerforms customer design calculations, testing and development workMakes customer contacts as required to study problems and consult with users, presents solutions to problems when necessaryMaintains appropriate project records Help review current standard practices and specifications and improve it in order to meet business and customer needs for present timeWork with laboratory personnel or engineering manager to address any compound problems and needsObtains any recommendation by laboratory for suitable compounds for special applications are being followed in the departmentProvides information, assistance to drafting, specification and testing personnel as and when requiredTake a strong lead in mentoring Engineers & Jr. Engineers within the group, advising in the areas of industry best practices, product innovation, and company procedures / systems
Engineering degree Mechanical Engineering
Minimum 5 years of experience in product development
