# Job Description Summary# Job DescriptionAs a senior member of the Electrical & Firmware Engineering Team, the Staff Firmware Engineer will be responsible for the design and implementation of embedded software for medical devices and medical instrumentation\. The successful candidate must possess a complete understanding of a wide application of technical principles, theories, and concepts in the field\.**Job Responsibilities:**+ Works closely with the project team to develop and implement software/firmware solutions to meet product requirements and written specifications\.+ Performs development work independently with minimal supervision required\.+ Architects structures and solutions within your assigned portion of a project\.+ Ensures quality of work product by following industry standards such as MISRA and IEC\.+ Generates documentation to support regulatory filings and internal reports and specifications\.+ Participates in formal Verification and Validation activities including protocol generation and execution\.+ Provides R&D input on CAPA reports and post product release support to BD Manufacturing worldwide\.+ Follows design, quality, and safety guidelines based on GMP, FDA, and ISO guidelines and related BD Quality and Safety Standards and Practices\.**Minimum Qualifications:****Education and Experience:**+ BS degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or a closely related engineering degree from an accredited university is required\. MS is preferred\.+ Minimum of 5 years' experience in software or firmware development for optoelectronic devices for consumer, industrial, or medical applications\.+ Minimum of 4 years' experience programming in C\# with WCF experience\. Experience using C\# in non\-GUI situations and used Native Windows DLL from C\# strongly preferred\.+ Minimum of 4 years' experience with Free\-RTOS, Micrium, or VxWorks or similar RTOS internals strongly preferred\.+ Experience with Visual Studio and Embedded Windows a must\. Experienced in defining and building Windows Embedded OS with preference for Windows Embedded 8 experience strongly preferred\.+ Custom Windows Driver Development with PCIe experience, kernel mode driver development and knowledge using user mode driver development\. KMDF knowledge and expertise\.+ USB, I2C, SPL,PCIe,RS232,RS485,TCP/IP, Sockets+ Hardware bring up and debug required, Bare hardware boot processes and firmware\.+ Knowledge of Micrium OS, Embedded LINUX is a plus\.+ Hands on experience troubleshooting firmware/hardware interfaces using logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, and debuggers\.**Assets:**+ Development experience with Embedded Linux for SoC a plus\.+ Experience programming microcontrollers \(ARM, ColdFire, TI, x86\) required\. Experience with IAR or uVision IDE is preferred\.+ Experience with memory management, interrupt controller and bootloader strongly desired\.+ Device driver development of Timer, ADC, RTC, DMA module highly preferred\.+ Experience with common hardware interfaces such as SPI, I2C and UART\. Low\-level knowledge of USB protocols and device drivers a plus\.+ Application development with image sensors or camera modules\.
