AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Staff Geologist/Hydrogeologist for employment in the Sacramento, CA office to support field operations for environmental investigations, remediation implementation and performance monitoring for various clients in Northern California.
The ideal candidate will have prior experience drilling, soil logging, well installation and soil, groundwater and vapor sample collection. Additionally, this candidate will be willing and able to learn new skills on challenging field assignments in a team work environment
Tasks will include:
Field document preparation, field data collection, processing and interpretation.
Conducting environmental field work, including soil logging, groundwater sampling, fluid level gauging and oversight of field surveys, drilling, well installation, development operations and utility clearance for intrusive operations.
Supporting office tasks, including data analysis and report preparation.
Utilizes basic scientific principles, theories, practices and existing technologies to develop solutions for technical problems with limited scope.
Collects and enters data, and applies technical principles and theories.
Interprets and records data, conducts analyses, compares findings to relevant studies and local, state and federal regulations to ensure compliance.
Oversees drillers and other subcontractors in the field, prepares field notes, and logs boreholes;
Collects soil, water, and soil gas samples in the fields
As a minimum, this role requires a BA/BS + 2 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
Bachelor's Degree in Geology, Hydrogeology or Earth Sciences preferred.
2-4 years experience in environmental consulting or related field experience preferred.

Demonstrated technical writing abilities
Capable of using spreadsheet, word processing and standard office software preferred. Ability to travel regionally for short-term overnight assignments.
