Providence is calling a Sterile Processing Technician II for Full-Time Evening Shift to Providence Saint John's Health Center in Santa Monica, CA.
We are seeking a Central Supply Sterile Technician II who will conduct a variety of complex and detailed tasks to accomplish the effective, safe reprocessing of reusable devices in SPD, Surgery, and other hospital departments. Clean, disinfect, assemble, inspect, and sterilize complex, specialty instruments and equipment for surgical use. Operate Sterile Processing and Operating Room equipment. Complete OR and SPD recordkeeping pertaining to sterility assurance and instrument counts.
In this position you will:
- Sterilize complex instruments, equipment, and supplies as required
- Operate and monitor OR Steris System 1 sterilizer; Operates and monitors OR steam autoclaves
- Retrieve and transport medical equipment from patient care units for decontamination
- Utilize OR flash logs accurately and conducts emergent sterilization services for OR
- Provide back-up labor support for OR instrument room staff
- Clean, assemble, and sterilize OR specialty tray, doctor’s trays, and OR restocked trays
- Conduct routine maintenance and cleaning of OR and SPD sterilizers
- Interact directly with outside vendors regarding loaner trays and surgical supplies
- Conduct processing and inventory control of reprocessed Respiratory Therapy and Nursery equipment
- Comply with and initiate proper procedure in event of emergent sterilization of implants
- Perform specific and complex biological, diagnostic and chemical testing for OR equipment
- Assign to self directed or non supervised shifts in OR and SPD departments
- Decontaminate instruments, supplies, and equipment according to established policies and procedures
- Pick up, cleans, assemble, wrap, sterilize, store supplies and instrument trays
- Operate SPD machinery safely and efficiently
- Distribute supplies and equipment to user areas
- Maintain adequate supplies to meet area needs, including inventory control, proper labeling, inspection, and labeling of packages
- Conduct biological and chemical monitoring in accordance with quality assurance standards
- Sterilize instruments, equipment, and supplies as required, handle and store instruments, equipment and supplies appropriately
- Maintain the cleanliness and organization of work areas
- Complete paperwork pertaining to sterility assurance and instrument counts
- Greet customers in a positive manner by introducing self, speaking clearly and with confidence, making appropriate eye contact
